What is meant by wisdom tooth extraction?

Wisdom teeth are the third molars that are found on each side of the upper and lower jaw. They are the last teeth to erupt and often do not erupt but remain below the gumline. Impacted, or crowded, teeth that have not erupted cause pain and swelling. The dentist or oral and maxillofacial surgeon will extract the tooth for the patients' comfort. The extraction of a wisdom tooth takes from ten minutes to one hour.

Are wisdom teeth extractions painful?

Local anaesthesia is injected before a wisdom tooth is extracted. Patients will not feel pain during the procedure. Anxious patients are given a sedative before the procedure.

What is the recovery time after wisdom teeth extractions?

It takes up to three weeks to completely recover from a wisdom tooth extraction.

When can I travel by air after having wisdom teeth extracted?

Patients can travel by air two days after having wisdom teeth extracted, after consulting with their dentist or surgeon.

What care is required after having wisdom teeth extracted?

Patients should take all prescribed medications correctly. They should gently rinse their mouth with salt water frequently. They should not rinse their mouths or brush their teeth vigorously for a few days. Patients should sleep with their head elevated. They should avoid vigorous exercise and lifting heavy objects for at least a week. They should use ice packs to reduce any swelling. They should not eat very hot or very cold food for a few days.

It's about caring, skilled professionals committed to transforming livesRick, US, 19 01 24

Review of Dental Design Studio, Cancun From a financial and emotional standpoint, my experience at Dental Design Studio in Cancun was life-changing. Facing a staggering $90,000 dental bill in the US, I was fortunate to discover Dental Design, where the cost was significantly more manageable. David Garcia's detailed consultation set a comforting and professional tone from the outset. Upon arrival in Cancun, I was warmly welcomed by Carlos, whose kindness extended throughout my stay, including daily transportation arrangements. The clinic's thoughtfulness was further evident in their arrangement and coverage of my hotel stay. The surgical procedure, performed by the exceptionally skilled Dr. Juan, was smooth and reassuring, especially for someone with a deep-seated fear of dental work. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Enrique, was incredible. Dr. Maria's creation of a temporary prosthetic was equally impressive, demonstrating her expertise and sensitivity. Even when I faced post-procedure complications back home, David Garcia's prompt and thorough responses to my queries exemplified outstanding patient support. My return visit in January was pivotal. Dr. Maria's meticulous work in placing new caps and implants transformed not only my smile but also my confidence. Her gentle approach significantly eased my dental anxieties. The seamless coordination between surgeons, doctors, customer care staff, and their in-house laboratory was remarkable. This holistic, in-house approach contributed to a flawless and efficient experience. Special thanks to Liz, Karen, and Maria's assistant, Vianey for their unparalleled support. Their dedication was a key component of what I can only describe as the best medical experience of my life, achieved at a fraction of the US cost. In conclusion, Dental Design Studio isn’t just about dental work; it's about caring, skilled professionals committed to transforming lives. They are a stark contrast to my experiences with US dentistry, prioritizing patient care over profit. My heartfelt recommendation goes to anyone considering dental work – Dental Design Studio is a choice you won't regret.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction $300 - $350
Wisdom tooth extraction is a dental procedure performed to remove one or more of the third molars, commonly known as wisdom teeth. These teeth are located at the back of the mouth and typically emerge between the ages of 17 and 25. Wisdom teeth may need to be extracted if they become impacted, meaning they do not have enough space to emerge properly, or if they cause discomfort, infection, or misalignment of other teeth. The extraction can be simple or complicated depending on the position and development of the wisdom teeth. In many cases, a surgical extraction is required, which involves making an incision in the gum tissue and possibly removing some bone to access the tooth. Local anesthesia is used to numb the area, and in some cases, sedation may be administered to help the patient relax. Post-operative care includes managing swelling, pain, and following instructions for a smooth recovery.
Simple Extractions $100 - $120
A simple extraction is a dental procedure in which a tooth is removed from the mouth without the need for complex surgical techniques. This type of extraction is typically performed when a tooth is visibly damaged, decayed, or no longer functional and does not require a surgical incision to be removed. The dentist uses specialized instruments to loosen the tooth from its socket and then gently removes it. Simple extractions are usually performed under local anesthesia to numb the area, and the procedure is relatively quick with minimal post-operative discomfort.
Surgical Extractions $150 - $200
A complicated extraction, also known as a surgical extraction, is a more complex dental procedure used to remove a tooth that is not easily accessible or visible, often due to factors such as impaction, broken roots, or abnormal positioning. This procedure is typically required for teeth that are partially erupted, have curved roots, or are deeply embedded in the jawbone. During a complicated extraction, the dentist or oral surgeon may need to make an incision in the gum tissue, and possibly remove some surrounding bone, to access and extract the tooth. The area is usually numbed with local anesthesia, and sometimes sedation may be used. After the extraction, stitches may be needed to close the incision, and a recovery period is required to ensure proper healing and manage any discomfort.

Everyone was friendly and professionalCassandra, US, 28 05 24

The team was so professional and very communicative. The crazy person who lives inside of me decided to have dental work done in MEXICO one day before leaving for vacation. I did my research and decided on YeahSmile. From my initial request for a quote and appointment, the staff called, emailed and texted me right away. I checked into my hotel at 1 pm and transportation from the clinic was there to pick me up and transport me to my appointment at 2:30 pm. Everyone was friendly and professional. I am pleased with the dental work and will be returning for more dental work on my next vacation. Their aftercare and check-ins were very appreciated.

I saw the results for their work in just one week, I was completely overwhelmedChristopher, US, 08 02 20

I have only written one or two reviews in my life (one was a negative experience with a kayaking company in South Africa). I am doing this review because I have been totally blown away with an experience at Cancun Dental Specialists just last week. It may sound dumb, but I want as many people to hear about this as possible. I start with an experience three years ago. I went to a dentist in Salt Lake City that specializes in All-on-Four fixed dentures. My teeth were a mess and I wanted to get a professional consultation. The oral surgeon did all the Xray stuff and then sat me down for his expert opinion. Great news, he could help me and recommended a fixed denture, All-on-Four procedure. The cost: $45,000! Needless to say, I quickly lost any interest. Somehow I had heard of dental tourism. My first thought was, "Dental work in Mexico? Really?" I probed deeper into the subject. The more I researched the topic the more I found satisfied patients, excellent reviews and what appeared to be professional clinics in Mexico. Moreover, a spokesperson for the American Dental Association said on NPR that there are many fine dentists in Mexico, but, like anything else, you have to do your homework to get to the right people. I looked at clinics in Tijuana, Algodones, Costa Rica and Cancun. I became very interested in Cancun Dental Specialists for several reasons: The clinic owner did her advanced dental studies in restorative dentistry at the University of Michigan (one of the top three dental schools in the U.S.). I spoke or electronically communicated to several people who had gone there and questioned them about their experience - everyone had good things to say -The dentists have excellent credentials with continuing education in the USA and lots of experience under their belt -They had state of the art equipment, their own lab that worked 24/7 -They are the largest user in all Mexico of Nobel Biocare implant hardware -They all speak good English -Dental coordinators pull it all together, hassle-free -English-speaking drivers to transport you to and from appointments and the airport -The pricing was jaw-dropping low (pun intended) They seemed to have all the right ingredients for me to pull the trigger and let them do my dental work. I called and spoke with a dental coordinator and we set an appointment. And, I had never been to Cancun and had heard nothing but great things about the beaches and the water! Important: After my 3D scan/x-ray, I met with Dr Lugo, the clinic's oral surgeon. He told me I was not a candidate for an All-on-Four procedure. I had excellent roots and strong bone structure. Quite the opposite of the U.S. "professional" three years ago. Instead, they recommended a Full Mouth Restoration. This would mean more work and less money for them than an All-on-Four. I call my trip to Cancun, "The Agony and the Ecstasy." I hate being in any dental chair - USA or Cancun! It is agony. However, when I saw the results for their work in just one week, I was completely overwhelmed. It was pure ecstasy! And the price? 40% of what I would have paid in the United States. Check out the "Before and After" shots. Cancun Dental Specialists is legitimate. I am spreading the word to all my family and friends. Cancun is safe, the work is professional, and, the price tag is lower than whale dung at the bottom of the ocean! (Note: You might see this on other review platforms because I am determined to get the news out to the many people in the United States and Canada that desperately need serious dental work, but cannot afford the astronomical price tag.)
