The Ancient Chinese understood the relationship a human body has with the universe and therefore Five Element Acupuncture follows the specific principles of the seasons and the cyclic flow of life. Although its origins are ancient, it is subject to continuous review and is as beneficial today as it was to the early oriental cultures. It is a non-invasive system of medicine, which can do no harm; indeed it frequently improves additional symptoms outside the main complaint, increasing wellbeing. The beauty of acupuncture is that it entirely compliments Western Medicine, differing only in diagnostic and clinical techniques. How does it work? Acupuncture can be understood on the basis of both an energetic and biomedical model of Western Medicine. It recognises the body's "Vital Energy" (Qi), which upholds all life forms. Qi is said to flow in the body's meridian lines, which circulate through tissue, muscles, organs, skin and bone. Illness, disease or pain result from a blockage or imbalance in the flow of Qi and Acupuncture works by correcting/rebalancing this flow and triggers the body's own healing mechanism. Hypnotherapy simply means therapy carried out using hypnosis. Hypnosis is just the tool that is used to carry out many different kinds of therapy. Hypnosis is simply relaxation, a natural phenomenon - something we do every day. You would probably recognize it as 'day dreaming' or being 'miles away'. A person in hypnosis is aware of everything going on around them and is in complete control at all times.

We aim to make acupuncture an accessible form of treatment for as many people as possible.  For this reason, we do our utmost to keep our prices as low as we reasonably can by treating patients in one room in a group setting. This type of acupuncture setting is similar to that done in China.

We treat babies (cranial osteopathy), children and teenagers for a variety of common complaints simply to ensure healthy postural development. Treatment is safe and natural, using a variety of manual techniques.

I practiced as a nurse for 10 years gaining experience in accident and emergency medicine. I am now a fully qualified acupuncture practitioner registered with the British Acupuncture Council. Treatment is successful for muscle pain, low back pain, fatigue and low energy, anxiety and stress, headaches, IBS and menstrual problems, for example. I can provide treatment during pregnancy to maintain health and well being, and also for minor disorders such as morning sickness. I am a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network, a  group of practitioners with a special interest in fertility issues. I can help muscle pain, arthritis using Tuina, a remedial massage developed in China and used alongside acupuncture or on its own.

I am a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network, a professional interest group in treating those with fertility issues. I can provide IVF support. Acupuncture is known to improve the uterine blood supply, which increases the chances for embryo implantation.

Electro-acupuncture is used to enhance acupuncture treatment for many muscular problems. A small electrical current is passed though the needles to stimulate blood flow to an injured area, thus providing a good environment for tissue healing and repair.
