Ms Sheira Chan
Biography:
My first degree a BSc degree in Nursing awakened my vocation to treat and heal. I trained in Toronto, Canada and gained extensive clinical experience in both Canada and USA specialising in post surgery, mental health and cancer care areas. I worked in private clinics and University Teaching hospitals. In 1997, personal circumstances intervened and I left the Nursing profession. I migrated to the UK in 2001 and began a successful career working with the UK Telecoms Regulator, Ofcom but I missed working within a clinical setting and in 2008, I decided to return to clinical practice but not to Nursing. I wanted to be able to treat my patients as an integrated whole - physical, spiritual and mental - as opposed to only treating their physical symptoms or disease. During this period I was also undergoing treatment and my NHS consultant recommended Acupuncture as a supplemental and supportive therapy for me. This recommendation introduced me to Chinese Medicine's 2000 year old history and its therapeutic benefits.
