What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

My smile is just amazingTalia, Australia, 09 03 23

WOW!! That is all I can say. Dr personally came and picked me up from my air b&b on the first day and sent a car for me every other visit. Her English is great so there were no communication problems. She listened to my concerns and we talked through desired results. I had crown porcelain bridges on both the top and bottom jaws & I am so happy with the result. My teeth are so white and flawless. My smile is just amazing. It only took 4 visits and a week to have the final result. Dr has her clinic in her house, which feels more personalised and inviting than a dentist's surgery. I highly recommend her.

The aftercare couldn't have been betterCiara, Ireland, 27 08 22

I travelled alone to Antalya in February 2022 to have some dental treatment done. I was looked after so well and had the best and kindest dentist. The prices were incredible and the dentist was super clean and welcoming. I had 26 zirconium crowns as well as bridging and root canal work and it was basically pain-free. I can't wait to visit again and have my check-up. The aftercare couldn't have been better.

Dental Bridges
DENTAL BRIDGESIf you have one or more missing teeth, a dental bridge can fill the gap with one or more artificial (false) teeth. A bridge is typically made of crowns on either side of the missing tooth or teeth supporting the pontic (false tooth) and is cemented in place. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Bridges are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth. They div the space where the teeth are missing. Bridges are cemented to the natural teeth or implants surrounding the empty space. These teeth, called abutments, serve as anchors for the bridge. A replacement tooth, called a pontic, is attached to the crowns that cover the abutments. As with crowns, you have a choice of materials for bridges. At Akdeniz İnci Dental Clinic, our dentists can help you decide which to use, based on the location of the missing tooth (or teeth), its function, aesthetic considerations and cost. Porcelain or ceramic bridges can be matched to the color of your natural teeth. Unlike removable devices such as dentures, which you can take out and clean daily, bridges are cemented onto existing teeth or implants, and can only be removed by a dentist.

Done without any painRalf, Israel, 22 09 20

I had an emergency, root canal treatment on a broken tooth. Very peculiar and I was on my last day in quarantine. He agreed to treat me immediately (requ. form Israeli Med Board). The root canal work was done without any pain (in contrary to others I had in S.Africa and Germany). Because of the broken tooth which he saved I needed a crown. Which was done precise and no problem at all? My experience over more than 20 years (whenever I am in the country) Fixing my gums, implant, crown ... best of three countries. Precise, warm a real specialist. Hard to find these days.

I was a patient with many questions and Dr Beltre is love, he dedicates the time I needed to clarify my questions, and he is very honest. Because I wanted to get 8 implants, but he explained that with 5 was enough, which shows me that he is not a doctor interested in money, he really cares about doing the work that I really needed.

I felt very comfortable and at ease with the dentistSusan, US, 09 02 23

VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. Dr Barba was very informative. He explained everything in detail and made sure I understood everything about the procedure. I felt very comfortable and at ease with him. I had 4 implants and he made my existing plate into a temporary arch. It was nice that Dr Barba and my dentist at home talked on the phone and worked together. My home dentist will continue with the follow up care and is going to make my permanent arch. Dr Barba picked up my friend and I in Brownsville and brought us to Mexico. I felt very safe. I highly recommend Dr Barba, very informative, efficient and a job well done.

Dental Bridges
Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth.A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap – these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth – and a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.

From the moment I walked in, I felt at easeJulie, US, 07 03 24

After visiting the clinic, I had to write a review to say what an amazing place this is. I am a very nervous person full of anxiety. From the moment I walked in, I felt at ease. Sorry, I can't remember the dentist's name, but he was ace, brother. He was very professional, explained everything, gave me lots of options, and was very understanding. Highly recommend and having my second appointment in June.

A dental bridge is a false tooth, known as a pontic, which is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. The two crowns holding it in place that are attached onto your teeth on each side of the false tooth. This is known as a fixed bridge. This procedure is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures. If you a space from a missing tooth, a bridge will be custom made to fill in the space with a false tooth. The false tooth is attached by the bridge to the two other teeth around the space - bridging them together.

Dental Crowns from $302
As we age, many of us find ourselves with teeth that are no longer structurally sound. Root canals, lost fillings, decay below a filling, chipping and cracking of the enamel are all things that can lead to large scale defects in a tooths surface. When the entire surface of the tooth is a problem, but the root system is intact, a crown might be just what the dentist orders. Grinding your teeth, an improper bite, age, fillings and tooth decay can all be contributing factors in the wearing down, cracking or breakage of your teeth. Dental crowns cover the entire visible surface of your affected tooth and add strength, durability and tooth stability.

A Resin-bonded bridge consists of a cast metal framework that is cemented with resin composite to an abutment(s) which has preparation(s) confined either entirely or almost entirely to enamel. The resin retained bridge is a good treatment option for many missing teeth as it is relatively cheap when compared to alternatives such as , requires little or no damage to the surrounding teeth during preparation for placement, and it is well tolerated by patients. Typical success rates are quoted as being as high as 80% after 15 years in the anterior . Far lower success rates are seen in the posterior .Thus case selection is important.
