Job Title:
Counsellor Biography:
I am a practicing counsellor in Galway City. I have a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a BA (Ord) in Counselling and Psychometric Studies. I work in an integrative way and use different counselling styles and modalities in my practice depending on the client's individual needs.
Counselling and Psychotherapy are now widely accepted as being a successful way in which to manage, support or help treat all manner of mental health difficulties such as depression, stress, bereavement, ptsd, general anxiety and mood disorders and the stresses and strains of everyday living in the 21st century.
I offer counselling in areas such as; depression, bereavement, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, stress, divorce/separation, counselling for children, counselling for parents, career guidance and occupational testing & assessment.
Child-Focused Counselling for parents. I work with parents who need support with different issues and difficulties that arise in parenting. I also work with children from the age of 13 and with teenagers that may need support for various reasons, their parents may be going through a divorce or separation, they may be experiencing bullying in school, they may find that they are acting out and do not understand or know why etc. When I work with children I insist that both parents (if possible) and certainly one parent be fully committed and involved in the process and must meet with me regularly.
In addition to counselling I offer career guidance to secondary school students, third level students and adults who are interested in clarifying subject choices, re-training or require information and guidance on what options are available to them and where their interest and skills may lay.
