Bone Graft

A bone graft is the addition of bone, or bone-like material, in an effort to increase the volume of bone in the jaw.  Typically, the bone is placed and heals before the implant can be placed.  The healing period can vary, depending on the type of bone used.

  • Autograft – bone used from the patient’s own body.
  • Allograft – bone from a genetically similar organism
  • Xenograft – bone from a genetically dissimilar organism
  • Synthetic – a synthetic biocompatible material

The type of bone graft that will be chosen will depend on the situation, and on the amount of bone required.

Dental Checkup (30 mins)

Dental Checkup - LB CLINICAS

On average, seeing a dentist twice a year works well for most people. A few people can get away with fewer visits. Others may need more frequent visits. People with very little risk of cavities or gum disease can do fine seeing their dentist just once a year. People with a high risk of dental disease might need to visit every three or four months, or more.

This high-risk group includes:

·

Smokers

·

Diabetics

·

People with current gum disease

·

People with a weak immune response to bacterial infection

·

People who tend to get cavities or build up plaque

Dental Sealant

The chewing surfaces of the molar and premolar teeth have "fissures"that make them vulnerable to decay. These fissures can be deep, are difficult to clean.than even a single bristle of a toothbrush. Plaque accumulates in these areas. The first dental sealant to be placed is usually on the fissure of the first permanent molar tooth once the chewing surface of the tooth has erupted completely beyond the gum.

General anesthesia for dental treatments

General Anaesthesia is rarely used for dental treatment One of the reasons for this is that IV Sedation works so well for nearly everyone, and is extremely safe. Each general anaesthetic carries a certain amount of risk.

LB CLINICAS performs that general anaesthesia for dental treatment in adults is used as a last resort or disabled patients, where there is no other method of pain and anxiety management appropriate for the person in question. This treatment is done in our hospital with all the necessary safety equipment and managed by medical doctors specialists in general anesthesia

Gingivitis Treatment

Gingivitis Treatment - LB CLINICAS

Gum disease, or gingivitis, is inflammation of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth and is most commonly a result of poor dental hygiene. Gingivitis starts as food debris mixes with saliva and bacteria-forming plaque that sticks on the surfaces of teeth.

As periodontal disease progresses and more bone tissue is lost, the teeth may eventually become loose and fall out.

Gum Surgery

Types of Gum Surgery

1. Gingival Flap Surgery – If pockets are greater than 5 millimeters in depth, the periodontist would conduct this procedure to reduce the periodontal pockets that were noted in a patients chart. Most patients who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe periodontitis would go through this procedure.

2. Gingivectomy

– This procedure is conducted to remove excess gum tissue that may be overgrown on the teeth to provide a better area to clean the teeth.

3.Gingivoplasty

– This type of gum surgery is used to reshape healthy gum tissue around the teeth to make them look better. If a person has tooth recession where the gum is pushed away from the tooth, a gingivoplasty can be done. .

Inlay or Onlay

Dental inlays and onlays are a medium between dental crowns and fillings. They are implicated on teeth at the back of the mouth that has suffered a moderate level of decay. and can also be placed on teeth that have undergone some fracturing; more serious damage will probably be resolved with a dental crown.

Mandibular Sagittal Split Osteotomy

Orthognathic surgery involves the surgical correction of the components of the facial skeleton to restore the proper anatomical and functional relationship in patients with dentofacial skeletal abnormalities. An important component of orthognathic surgery is the bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO).

Indications for a bilateral sagittal split include horizontal mandibular excess, deficiency, and/or asymmetry. It is the most commonly performed procedure for mandibular advancement and can also be utilized for a mandibular setback of small to moderate magnitude.

The bilateral sagittal split osteotomy is an indispensable surgical procedure for the correction of mandibular deformities.

Sedation for dental treatments (1 hour)

Sedative medication helps relax patients by slowing the action of the central nervous system. People remain aware of their surroundings, but are less responsive to external stimuli like the sound of the drill or the smell of materials.

This also reduces their sense of pain.

Current medications are often more powerful and less likely to carry unpleasant side effects.

Our medical doctors weigh a number of factors carefully to assess which drug will be the safest choice in a unique situation for a particular individual.

Sinus Lift

A key to implant success is the quantity and quality of the bone where the implant is to be placed. The upper back jaw has traditionally been one of the most difficult areas to successfully place dental implants due to insufficient bone quantity and quality and the close proximity to the sinus. If you've lost bone in that area due to reasons such as periodontal disease or tooth loss, you may be left without enough bone to place implants.

Sinus lift surgery can help correct this problem by raising the sinus floor and developing bone for the placement of dental implants. Several techniques can be used to raise the sinus and allow for new bone to form. In one common technique, an incision is made to expose the bone. Then a small circle is cut into the bone. This bony piece is lifted into the sinus cavity, much like a trap door, and the space underneath is filled with bone graft material. Your periodontist can explain your options for graft materials, which can regenerate lost bone and tissue.

Finally, the incision is closed and healing is allowed to take place. Depending on your individual needs, the bone usually will be allowed to develop for about four to 12 months before implants can be placed. After the implants are placed, an additional healing period is required. In some cases, the implant can be placed at the same time the sinus is augmented.

Undergoing sinus lift surgery has been shown to greatly increase your chances for successful implants that can last for years to come

Treatment of Orofacial Pain (1 hour)

The treatment of each person suffering from TMJ dysfunction must be tailored to the particular needs of the individual. A careful study must be done to clearly define the nature of the your problem. This involves a thorough consultation and examination. During the examination a comprehensive physical examination is made to evaluate sites of pain, as well as evaluating the functional integration of related body systems.

The following diagnostic procedures may be performed by the doctors: X-rays of the teeth and TM Joint, plaster models of the mouth, and a computer-assisted analysis of the TM Joints After a comprehensive analysis of the information obtained a specific treatment plan is developed. Treatment is oriented to providing relief of pain and restoration of normal function of the involved structures.
