What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are artificial screws made of titanium or zirconium oxide that connect the jawbone and a dental restoration like a crown or denture. They are also called ‘endosseous’ implants or fixtures. They are an artificial tooth root. Once implanted, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone like part of the body. Dental surgeons perform bone grafting procedures to hold the implant in place for patients who do not have enough surrounding bone structure, or graft bone to help connect implants to the maxillary sinuses on either side of the nose when placing dental implants in the upper jaw.

How long does it take to fit a Dental Implant?

The time taken for inserting dental implants depends on the bone structure and needs of each individual patient. Some implant procedures take about 15 minutes while others may take up to two hours. Implant procedures are performed under local anaesthesia. Intravenous sedation is used for the comfort of anxious patients.

How long does it take to recover after getting a Dental Implant?

Recovery time after a dental implant procedure may take four to six weeks or up to 12 weeks for some patients. Patients can travel one day after the insertion of a single dental implant. Patients who require multiple dental implants or supporting surgical procedures should wait for around two weeks before travelling. They should meet the dental surgeon to get a certification of being fit to travel before embarking on their journey.

What should I do after getting a Dental Implant?

Patients should rest and avoid exertion after surgery. They should also avoid vigorously brushing their teeth or rinsing their mouth.

What are the alternatives to Dental Implants?

Alternatives to dental implants include fixed bridges and dentures.

Dental Implants
A dental implant is an artificial tooth that is surgically placed into your jawbone The benefit of using implants is that they don't rely on neighboring teeth for support, they are permanent and stable. Implants are a good solution to tooth loss because they look and feel like natural teeth. Implant material is made from different types of metallic and bone-like ceramic materials that are compatible with body tissue.

Throughout the whole process, I felt so supported and knew they were only a call awayLorcan, Ireland, 31 03 21

Considering having the perfect smile? I cannot recommend 3 Dental Limerick enough! I attended the practice last year for a consultation for braces to straighten my smile and less than a year later I am delighted with the final result. The team is so professional and make the whole process so easy! I opted for the clear braces option and they truly were nearly invisible! They were also great value for money and easy payment options. From the amazing people you meet at the front desk to the nurses and Dr. Paul O Connell, every member of the team makes you feel welcome and listened to. Throughout the whole process, I felt so supported and knew they were only a call away if I had any questions. Thank you so much to all the team!

I am extremely grateful to them for such excellenceMary, Ireland, 23 10 24

Dr Fida and Dr Pierre did complex microsurgery some days ago. What an excellent team. It was a 2-hour surgery and my experience was so positive. I followed their advice re ice packs ...5mns on and 5 mns off after surgery for a no of hours and this paid off. No bruising or swelling the following day. I was so pleasantly surprised I did not need pain relief afterwards. Antibiotics and steroids worked well plus mouthwash and gel. Gentle music in the background on the day certainly was calming plus their soothing voices as they operated. I am extremely grateful to them for such excellence.

Dental Implants
First, the implant, which looks like a screw or cylinder, is placed into your jaw.Over the next two to six months, the implant and the bone are allowed to bond together to form an anchor for your artificial tooth. During this time, a temporary tooth replacement option can be worn over the implant site.

CamDent Limited - Dental Clinic in Ireland

CamDent Limited

40 Parnell Street, Limerick
Limerick Endodontics   Endodontic treatment is necessary when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected. The inflamation or infection can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, or a crack or chip in the tooth. In addition, a blow to a tooth may cause pulp damage even if the tooth has no visible chips or cracks. If pulp inflammation or infection is left untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess. Signs of pulp damage include pain, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, discoloration of the tooth, and swelling and tenderness in the nearby gums. Sometimes, there are no symptoms. The endodontist removes the inflamed or infected pulp, carefully cleans and shapes the inside of the tooth, then fills and seals the space. Afterwards, you will return to your dentist, who will place a crown or other restoration on the tooth to protect and restore it to full function. After restoration, the tooth continues to function like any other tooth. Endodontic re-treatments for teeth that have not healed after the first root canal treatment are also performed. In advanced cases root canal surgery is performed by making a surgical incision. Referrals from other dentists are welcome at the clinic. As a specialist clinic We provide the highest quality of endodontic (ROOT CANAL) treatment available to the dental profession. All of our care is delivered with the aid of a powerful SURGICA

Dental Implants from €1250
Dental Crowns €650 - €850
A dental crown is a cap that is placed over a tooth and held in place by dental adhesive or cement. Crowns are used for several reasons: as a protective cover for badly decayed teeth or fractured teeth as a permanent restoration for teeth with large fillings to correct minor problems in natural teeth like spacing and irregular shape or severe discolouration. Crowns are made of inert materials that do not deteriorate over time. However, the underlying tooth is still prone to decay and gum disease. Crowns on average last between 10 and 15 years. Ceramic on the surface may chip or fracture. Avoid chewing excessively hard substances like ice or bones. Daily brushing and flossing are essential for maintaining good oral health as well as keeping the crown trouble-free. The most vulnerable portion of the crown is the margin or the junction between tooth and crown. Regular check-ups will enable your dentist to detect any problems with your crown and recommend necessary treatment.
Dental Bridges from €650
Dental bridges are false teeth that are used to replace missing teeth. Unlike removable dentures, a dental bridge is fixed in place as it is anchored to the teeth at one, or both sides of a gap. They’re an alternative to dental implants for patients who don’t want to have surgery. Why do I need a bridge? Gaps in your teeth don’t just look unappealing, they can also cause a lot of damage to the surrounding teeth, putting more pressure on them and sometimes straining the jaw joint. Gaps where a tooth or teeth have been lost, also allow for unwanted and undesirable tooth movement of the adjacent or opposing teeth. A dental bridge is used to solve this problem, usually by fixing a false tooth in the gap and using the natural teeth to hold it in place. It typically has three pieces; a false tooth, held together by two crowns that cover the adjacent teeth. This is called a fixed – fixed bridge. By comparison, a Maryland bridge has metal wings bonded onto the adjacent teeth, which are very lightly prepared.
