What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, or nose job, is the term used for the surgical procedures to change or correct the shape of the nose.

What are the different types of Rhinoplasty?

The types of rhinoplasty procedures include; open rhinoplasty, where surgical incisions are made outside the nose, closed rhinoplasty, where incisions are made inside the nose, rhinoplasty to reduce the size of the nose, rhinoplasty to augment the appearance of the nose, ethnic rhinoplasty to alter particular racial traits and post-traumatic rhinoplasty, to treat a deviated septum or nasal fractures.

What are the steps in Rhinoplasty?

For a rhinoplasty procedure, anaesthesia is administered, incisions are made, the shape of the nose is changed, the incisions are closed using stitches and pain medication and post-operative instructions are given.

Is it safe to have Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a safe procedure when performed by a qualified and experienced surgeon. The patient must discuss with their surgeon the outcomes and risks of surgery before undergoing rhinoplasty. Patients will have swelling bruising and bleeding after the procedure. Appropriate medications will be prescribed by the surgeon after the procedure.

What to do after Rhinoplasty.

Patients should avoid touching their nose for a few days and keep their head elevated, even while sleeping. They should use cold compresses to reduce the swelling near their nose and eyes. Patients should avoid wearing spectacles. They should take all prescribed painkillers and medications correctly.

What is the recovery time after Rhinoplasty?

It takes about three to four weeks to completely recover from a rhinoplasty procedure.

The results were fabulousH, UK, 09 03 24

Mr Mahajan is an excellent clinician, I had a Brachioplasty (arm lift) just before Xmas and he was very professional and explained everything clearly and the results were fabulous. I was really surprised at how neat the scar was, Mr Mahajan ensured that my arms still looked natural following the surgery. The nurse at the yorkshire clinic were amazing so helpful and made me feel really at ease, nothing was too much trouble for them. I highly recommend Mr Mahajan and the Yorkshire clinic.

6months on I really couldn't be happier with the finished productPoppy, UK, 20 11 19

I had breast enlargement surgery with Oliver Harley. After breastfeeding two children I finally made the decision to make the leap, I wanted to be like I was before the children! Wow, I can't thank or recommend him enough. The whole process from start to finish was quick and relatively painless. I had an overnight stay at the McIndoe hospital in east Grinstead where the staff were lovely and I felt very cared for. I was discharged the following day, back at work after a week and now, 6months on I really couldn't be happier with the finished product. The mans a miracle worker. I would honestly say, stop thinking about it and just do it! The money it cost wasn't a fortune and was well worth it for the way I feel about myself now.

Rhinoplasty £8315 - £10500
What is Rhinoplasty? Rhinoplasty is also known as a ‘nose-job’.  It is an operation which changes the shape of the nose to give a more aesthetically balanced appearance or perhaps to correct an established deformity.  There are a combination of changes which can be made to improve the appearance of the nose which include reshaping the bridge of the nose (usually reducing a hump), refining the tip of the nose, improving the projection of the tip, shortening the nose or narrowing wide nostrils.  The aim is to shape the nose so that it is more in keeping with the desired appearance of the patient and also in balance with the proportions of the face. What does the surgery involve? Rhinoplasty is typically carried out under general anaesthetic and you can go home on the day of surgery.  Sometimes a single night in hospital is advised.  The shape of the nose is determined by a framework of cartilages and bones.  Small cuts are made inside the nostrils to access the framework and reshape it.  Occasionally it is also necessary to have a small scar at the base of the nostrils or across the central strut (‘columella’) of the nose or tiny access incisions on the side of the nose.  The operation takes about 90 minutes. At the end of the operation a small splint and some tapes will be positioned and packs are inserted into the nostrils.  This is done to support the new shape of the nose while it sets.  Some cases are more complex and may require internal access to the central strut deep inside the nose ‘septum’ which is necessary to correct shape, airflow or to obtain cartilage grafts to assist with shaping the nose.  This is known as septo-rhinoplasty.
