After debating the decision for nearly 2 years, I finally went ahead with a gastric sleeve operation with Mr Sherif Awad and the Tonic team in November 2018. It was the best decision I have ever made and I now feel fantastic. To date, I have lost 5 and a half stone / 35 kilos in just over 5 months and the weight continues to fall off. Mr Awad and his team (at both Tonic and the Royal Derby Hospital) have been excellent, attentive, supportive and caring during the initial consultations, pre-operation, at the hospital itself and postoperatively. The results post operation have been incredible. I would highly recommend Mr Awad and the Tonic team - the service they have provided has been second to none!

I decided to go with Mr A as it looked as though he is one of the most experienced in his field and I had seen many good reviews. It was a bonus that he works from my local private hospital. From my first consultation, Mr A was very open and honest and thoroughly talked me through everything I needed to know to ensure I was making the right decision. It was recommended that I spoke to a psychiatrist before Mr A would go ahead with the surgery. I never felt pressured at all to go ahead with the surgery and was always reassured that it was my own decision to make. Mr A even reassured me on the morning of my surgery that it wasn’t too late to change my mind if I didn’t want to go through with it. Mr A and his team, especially Liz the dietician, have provided great communication throughout the whole process and if I have any questions or worries, they are more than happy to answer. I had my surgery at Rivers hospital and the care I received from everyone involved for my two night stay was amazing. I was made to feel comfortable and at ease which I really think helped my recovery to go so smoothly. The nurses were very thorough and were carrying out many different tests throughout my stay. I am now 10 days post-op, very pleased with my weight loss so far and have had no complications. I feel great within myself and can’t thank Mr A enough as I am slowly gaining my confidence back as each day goes by.
