After debating the decision for nearly 2 years, I finally went ahead with a gastric sleeve operation with Mr Sherif Awad and the Tonic team in November 2018. It was the best decision I have ever made and I now feel fantastic. To date, I have lost 5 and a half stone / 35 kilos in just over 5 months and the weight continues to fall off. Mr Awad and his team (at both Tonic and the Royal Derby Hospital) have been excellent, attentive, supportive and caring during the initial consultations, pre-operation, at the hospital itself and postoperatively. The results post operation have been incredible. I would highly recommend Mr Awad and the Tonic team - the service they have provided has been second to none!

Consultations should only be given by one person, a highly experiencedsurgeon who is the only one capable of determining whether you are a suitablecandidate for the surgery that you are asking for.  Counsellors, or nursing, irrespective oftheir experience are not licensed to operate and although they may assist withsimple explanations, you should not allow yourself to be placed in a situationwhere they advise surgery. At theconsultation you will not find counsellors. All consultations are carried outby highly trained Cosmetic GMC Registered Surgeons. We do not charge for Consultations. A very high degree of knowledge and skill is required for awell-balanced opinion about the necessity for the operation in which you may beinterested.  You must appreciate thateven when the advice is not in favour of surgery, it comes from a highlyqualified person who has given his time, attention and experience to yourproblem, consulting, both pre and post-operatively accounts for over 50 percent of surgeons times and good ones do not give this time away.  Neither will they tell you that you needsurgery when you don’t. The vertical sleeve gastrectomy is a restrictive form of weight loss surgery in which approximately 85% of the stomach is removed leaving a cylindrical or sleeve shaped stomach with a capacity ranging from about 60 to 150 cc, depending upon the surgeon performing the procedure.

I had my gastric sleeve surgery on the 15th of July with Mr Agrawal. Mr Agrawal was so informative from the minute I first made contact with him. He has always reassured me that he is available to contact should I have any queries. I was very unsure who was the best surgeon to go with when I first looked into having this surgery however I felt Mr A stood out from many others and I genuinely couldn’t be happier with how well I’ve been taken care of since first point of contact. The care I received at Rivers hospital was very good and the nurses have been incredibly helpful following my surgery with any queries I’ve had. Thank you Mr A for everything!
