What are Skin Tags and how are they removed?

Skin tags are unsightly but harmless skin growths. They grow on a stem and are usually found on the eyelids and face, neck, armpits or under breasts. They are also called polyps or soft fibroma. Surgical and nonsurgical procedures are used to remove skin tags by cutting, tying, burning, using electrosurgery, or freezing, using liquid nitrogen called cryosurgery.

A local anaesthetic or numbing cream is applied to the skin tag area before it is removed. Patients will not feel pain when skin tags are removed.

Patients should wait at least a day after skin tag removal before flying so that the local anaesthetic has completely worn off.

They should avoid strenuous exercise and lifting heavy objects for at least a week. They should avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight for at least nine months. I had treatment for a Basel Cell Carsinoma at the end of last year...this was quite an involved procedure due to where it was on my nose and also required a skin graft. I felt so confident and totally reassured by Helen. She did an absolutely wonderful job. If I had any problems I knew she would be there to help me. The whole team were so friendly and made me feel so comfortable especially been as we were in the middle of a pandemic...I always felt that every precaution was taken to keep everyone safe. I had 10 itchy moles removed from my back. The information provided beforehand was clear and helpful. I was able to book an appointment within 2 weeks. The clinic was a pleasant environment. The doctor and assistant were likeable people. I was expecting this to be a consultation rather than actually doing the job, but I agreed on what needed doing and the price and got it done right away. Each mole was treated with an anaesthetic jab which was briefly a bit stingy, but the rest of the process was painless. The treatment leaves some short term wounds that are now healing well one week after treatment. They itch a bit but I am sure that this will reduce and go over the next few weeks. I have been meaning to do this for ages. I am glad I have had it done.

Allyson is brilliant, and so is this website (although the latter is a bit clunky!). I emailed all the clinics that were suggested to remove my skin tag and got several quotes of 'special discounted price' of £500. When Allyson quoted £95, I snapped it up but was a bit worried. How come she's so cheap? I now know that she's not cheap - just good value. She has 20 years experience and the whole experience was very pleasant. Well done Allyson - I will be backl when I get another skin tag!
