Next Step Therapy
is a highly ethical, professional, experienced and friendly therapy
practice in the heart of Dublin offering counselling &
psychotherapy, addiction assessment, referral & treatment, EMDR for PTSD and CPTSD as well as business services to other
therapists.
I am accredited by
both Irish and British Associations of Counselling &
Psychotherapy (IACP & BACP). I am also accredited by Addiction
Counsellors of Ireland (formerly IAAAC) and the Federation of Drug
and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP) as an addiction professional. I have completed accredited training by EMDR UK & Ireland. Finally, I am recognised by the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis
(BSCH) as a registered clinical hypnotherapy practice and by the
Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy Association (CHPA) as an accredited Hypno-Psychotherapist.
I attach great
importance to the humanity of my practice of psychotherapy. As well
as my skills and clinical knowledge, I also bring compassion,
kindness, curiosity and humour into my sessions.
I place much value
on the first stages of therapy and believe that the act of reaching
out and asking for help is a very courageous and healing act. I aim
to make this process as smooth as possible by providing a friendly,
caring and non-judgemental service
What Do I Offer
I have a variety of
different therapies that you can use, tailored to your needs. All are
tried, tested and evidence-based. I offer:

struggle with the appropriate expression of anger. We explore both
active and passive forms of Anger; Anger Out and Anger In. Please see
below or on our website for more information.
Mood Management
I have a series of
evidence based CBT programmes for mood management problems. There are
2 versions: low intensity and high intensity.
Low Intensity
Programme consists of between 8 and 12 CBT Mood Management modules
and lasts between 6 and 8 weeks
The High Intensity
Programme consists of all the Low Intensity Modules plus individual
integrative psychotherapy, psychoeducational training and relapse
prevention strategy management. This lasts between 10 and 16 sessions
or longer, if necessary.

information, please see the Mood Management section on my website
Individual
Counselling Sessions
This is what most
people understand by therapy: two people in relationship and working
towards change in a friendly, supportive and, above all, in a
non-judgmental manner. Most of our sessions are short-term solution
focussed although open-ended psychotherapy for deeper problems or
core issues is also possible.
Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
I have a range of
evidence based courses for people suffering from depression, anxiety,
chronic worry or generalised anxiety, shyness or social anxiety,
anger management, aggression control, assertiveness training,
procrastination, low self-esteem, shame reduction, panic attacks,
bipolar disorder mood management, etc
Group
Psychotherapy
Also called Support
Groups. A powerful way to get to know yourself with the help of
others who understand what you are going through. Facilitated by an
experienced counsellor. These groups usually meet weekly and are very
useful if you feel lonely, dislocated or just lost. A group will
start when 4 or more people make a commitment to attend at least 6
sessions.
Workshops
An opportunity to
explore single persistent problem areas with a group. Examples
include: Anger Management, Self-Esteem, Assertiveness Training. We
have many others so call us for more information
Addictions
I am a qualified and
highly experienced addictions consultant and have decades of
experience working with all forms of substance abuse and dependency.
I offer assessment and diagnosis; referral to detox or primary
treatment; both individual and group relapse prevention; aftercare;
family support; workplace substance abuse education;
psychoeducational groups on demand etc
PTSD/Trauma
This is where the past is present. I use EMDR to treat this complex issue.
