Diane McDonald BA (Hons), H.Dip.(Marriage and Relationship Counselling), MSc.in Counselling and Psychotherapy.When considering counselling, it is natural to have many questions about which counsellor might be the best fit for you both. A safe, confidential and trusting relationship is crucial for the counselling process to work. So, let me introduce myself: I’m Diane McDonald. I began my counselling training in 2010 in Maynooth, where I completed a 3-year Higher Diploma in Marriage and Relationship counselling with ACCORD Marriage Agency. I have also completed my MSc. in Counselling and Psychotherapy with Turning Point Training Institute and UCC, a course which is accredited by IACP, IAHIP and EAP. I recently completed a large research project with UCC investigating psychotherapists attitudes and knowledge around working with people with schizophrenia.In addition to my work as a psychotherapist, I work with the Mental Health Commission, serving on mental health tribunals in psychiatric units around the country. I have also worked with Avalon Relationship Consultants as a presenter of pre-marriage courses, delivering courses nationwide. I am fully accredited with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and have also received an IAHIP certificate in recognition of the high standard of training I have received.
