Couples Therapy
Relationship/Couples/Marriage Counselling DublinRelationship/Couples/Marriage Counselling DublinRelationship’s and families as we’ve known them seem to be falling apart at a rapid rate, inevitably this leads to feelings of hurt and anger. It often puts into question our ability to trust again and experience feelings of loneliness, rejection and loss. Relationships with our children can be tense and this can result in feelings of guilt, anger and sadness. In order to understand our own relationship difficulties we first need to take the courageous step of developing a more intimate relationship with ourselves. The first and most influential experience of personal relationships was when we were children. If our relationship with our parents were difficult, or we observed lack of communication, fighting and tension between our parents this may influence our relationships as adults. If we experienced rejection, hurt and losses as a child we may be unconsciously repeating these patterns as adults or avoid intimate relationships in order to protect from anticipated rejections. It may be that you are questioning why you are always choosing the wrong person and end up hurt and seem to be unable to stop repeating this pattern. Maybe you are a person who does the rejecting, however feels lonely and desires closeness. How counselling can help Counselling can help you to explore and develop a more intimate relationship with yourself. It can help unravel what is stopping you from getting close and in this process you can begin to develop new ways of being with others

It could also help you to get through a distressing time in your life. We, the counsellors, listen to what you are really saying, accepting and understanding where you are at and respecting your feelings. Grief and bereavement/loss. Anxiety. Obsessive compulsive disorder. Eating disorders. Dealing with life crisis, dilemmas and change. Bullying. Emotional crisis and difficulty coping. Anger Management Couple Counselling / Relationship Difficulties Sexuality Issues Coping with Depression Cancer / Illness Counselling What is the difference between Counselling, Psychotherapy and Therapy? Counselling tends to associate with more short term and focused work, and Psychotherapy explores issues in greater depth and requires more commitment to longer term work. It aims to reach the underlying, often unconscious, causes of distress. Therapy is a word that covers both Counselling and Psychotherapy. Think of your mind like a ball of wool — a tangled and really knotted ball of wool. These are your thoughts, your memories, your ways of coping with the world and includes your feelings. Couples Therapy €60 - €70
I see couples and have a lot of experience in this area.  I see both of you together provided your partner is in agreement. The first session looks at the presenting problem as each person sees it, your perspective may be very different from your partners. trying to understand each other is an important first step learning to listen and having a safe space to explore problems without them getting out of hand or just becomming the same revolving argument.  The hope is always to repair the relationship but if this is impossible the therapy can give a safe place to discuss separating.
Psychotherapist Consultation €60 - €70
I specialise in the area of panic attacks and anxiety. I will see you and assess where you are in relation to panic and anxiety.  Some patients just want the skills to help them manage the awful symptoms but in my experience you need to find the underlying cause.  Its always there, hidden in the symptoms of the panic and it is like fingerprints unique to each individual. therapy is two fold one,to help you manage the symptoms and two to find the cause.  Loss almost always sits somewhere in what makes patients suffer panic and anxiety. My area of interest is in area od death anxiety. Ihave a lot of experience with relationship difficulties and eating disorders.

As a therapist I am guided by the needs and requirements of the person seeking help. I believe that the strength of therapy lies not in technique alone, but in the connection made between the person seeking help and the therapist who is capable of offering it. My counselling background includes working with those who have experienced trauma, and those suffering from anxiety or feelings of low mood.  I have also worked with adolescents as a Schools Counsellor, and am currently working with Pieta House supporting people who are in suicidal distress or engaging in self harm. My approach to counselling and therapy is Person Centred, respecting and encouraging the clients’ autonomy within the therapeutic process at all times. I will provide a confidential one to one relationship in a safe setting to develop the client’s self-awareness, assisting them in finding their own way through their difficulties. I welcome those seeking help, working with teenagers, adults, couples and families. I have experience with a broad range of personal concerns including; depression, suicidal thoughts and self harm, anxiety and panic attacks, stress, relationship difficulties, sexual, physical and emotional abuse and personal development. My qualifications include: BA (Hons);  Dip Counselling/Psychotherapy;  Higher Dip in Conflict Resolution and Mediation;  Cert. Family Therapy, Cert CBT. I look forward to welcoming new clients to my established practice
