My aim is to help you achieve your goals, helping you overcome your limiting beliefs and possible emotional issues that are preventing you from living the life you want, making you also emotionally resilient in the process. This means you will be able to continue your life journey with self-confidence in your abilities to face future challenges. All my work is a conjunction of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy as well as Neuro-Linguistic Programming and counselling. All work is carried out in a relaxed state (a hypnotic trance) which enables real change to take place thanks to work done with your subconscious mind. You will be aware at all time and my work is bound by a strict code of ethics.

Making the decision to find a counsellor can be a difficult task, whether it is your first time or you are returning back to counselling. It can be a huge step in itself, as you may be experiencing a number of feelings, such as: what if I look silly, what if my problems seem unimportant or what if I don't know where to start? This is normal; honestly do not let this stop you. Please don't hesitate to call me and ask any questions, and then decide if you would like to come along to a free consultation? It's my belief that we all have our own answers to our difficulties and sometimes all we need is a safe place to explore our concerns. Also there are times when the ones closest to us aren't the best people to discuss our concerns, as our relationships with family and friends can often be the source of our distress. At Building Bridges I provide  a safe caring, non-judgemental and supportive space which allows people to explore issues within their life that are presently causing distress. Therapists use different approaches and interventions to suit the requirements of the client. The goal within the therapeutic relationship is help the client work towards making more positive choices.

I do face to face counselling at Blanchardstown Therapy Centre with Health and Safety Protocols in place to protect my clients.  I also  counsel via Skype, Zoom. and phone. My background   I am an accredited member of the National Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists (NAPCP) and adhere to their code of ethics. I counsel individuals over 18 years and couples. During my earlier career I was responsible for performance, development, coaching, recruitment and selection in a large Irish company.  Previous to that I was involved in child and special needs education and worked in a university setting.  As a counsellor, I work in in an integrative way, using therapeutic approaches from Person Centred, CBT, REBT, Mindfulness, relationships and couple skills, to suit your individual needs.  We will work together in a non-judgemental, safe, supportive environment, in order to explore the difficulties you are encountering in your life.  I will not tell you what to do but work collaboratively with you at every stage.  I will help you understand your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and relationships, discover new perspectives to your problems, identify your goals and how to achieve them. I will guide you in developing  awareness and ability to understand yourself  more fully so that you will finish  counselling with a stronger overall structure to your life. Valerie is an experienced  psychotherapist.  Valerie works with individuals  for one to one therapy in a safe confidential environment. People come to see Valerie  with a number of difficulties such as anxiety,  depression,  panic attacks , low self esteen, relationship  difficulties,  sexuality and any issues that impede  your life. Group Therapy Valerie  has run therapy groups for over 15 years. Becoming a member of a therapy group offers the possibility of substantial change and new ways of coping with the complex difficulties that arise in you life which cause unhappiness. You meet Valerie  for a  number of  individual  sessions where the possibility and usefulness of  group therapy  is for the individual.
