I have been working as a qualified therapist since 1999, including work as Clinical Director in a residential psychotherapy centre, maintaining a private practice, designing and delivering many personal development group programmes. I recently spent 3 years in New Zealand where I tutored on the psychotherapy degree training in EIT, Hawkes Bay. I designed and delivered the creative therapies module as well as facilitating humanistics and self development groups. I have also been cited in health articles, national papers, and local radio in Ireland and in a provincial newspaper in New Zealand. I worked as a counsellor withing HSE primary care for over 4 years.
I now primary work with couples or with individuals who have been recommended by their GP to contact me. My core training covered many modalities including, cognitive behavioural, jungian, and person centred therapies. My training in many models pre and post qualification enables me to suit the work to the client. where the client can use “talk therapy” to express and make sense of their issues and/or make use of creative or somatic ways of accessing resources. I often describe therapy as “facilitating people to get out of their own way”.
My style of work is humanistic integrative with an emphasis on ACT, gestalt, psychodynamic, process oriented, mindfulness, cognitive behavioural, creative and somatic therapies.
