I have been working as a physiotherapist for over 6 years. I have spent the majority of that time working within the NHS in both Doncaster and Leeds. I have over 4 years experience specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. More recently I have been working in private practice in a number of clinics around Leeds and Bradford.
Since qualifying I have also worked consistently within the sporting arena and am the physio for the Yorkshire RFU U16 squad and the North England RFSU 16 Group. I also regularly cover matches for West Park Leeds RUFC at Bramhope, and Otley RUFC Saracens, and many other clubs on an ad-hoc basis when requested.
I have previously worked with Leeds Rugby and have had the privilege of working with some world class sportsmen and international stars from both codes of rugby from England, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina. Many of the Academy players I worked with are now shining in 1st teams throughout the SuperLeague.
Qualifications: - BSc(HONS) Physiotherapy - Leeds Metropolitan University
- BSc(HONS) Physiology & Sports Science - University of Leeds
- Foundation Acupuncture
- Premier Training: Personal Trainer Award
Prior to training to be a physiotherapist I studied a degree in Sports Science & Physiology at Leeds University. The sports science component included: extensive biomechanical analysis of human movement; sports and exercise psychology; nutrition; exercise physiology; and national sports coaching courses. As a result I have coaching qualifications in a variety of sports including lacrosse, rugby league and rugby union, and am also fully qualified as a fitness instructor and personal trainer. As a keen sportsman myself I understand first hand the pain and frustration of injury, and this along with my training gives me a great insight into the types of injuries that are sustained in different sports and the stresses that participants bodies go through, and consequently allows me to better understand what is required to get them back playing that sport.
