Now I can play golf without the pain

4.5 50 Physiotherapist Consultation

I had a severe pain in my Achilles tendon, which kept recurring after each game of golf. Despite trying several ankle supports and other pain relief creams I could not cure it. However, after one visit to Paul Johnson, I am now cured. He examined my ankle and determined that my problem was due to the tendon being underworked and gave me a series of strengthening exercises which I do twice a day and now I can play golf without the pain. Thanks very much, Paul. Now all I have to do is improve my putting!

Really great physio who explained all about pain

5 50 Physiotherapist Consultation

My low back pain had been bothering me for weeks and was not getting better. I was not working well as my journey to London hurt me and sitting at work didn't help. I was recommended the Physio Therapy Centre in Haywards Heath and was sorted out with 5 treatments. Really great physio who explained all about pain, what was going on and how I could help my self to get better. Also they gave me home exercises to do. These guys are experts and I recommend them to everyone I know.

Really friendly place; great team there. Told that they are the longest established business in Haywards Heath so they must be doing it right! Greta to understand what was going on in my back and what to do to help it.

Back Pain Treatment (45 mins)

Back Pain Treatment - The Physio Therapy Centre - Haywards Heath

Low back pain is a common complaint among adults, affecting millions of people each year. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including poor posture, injury, or underlying medical conditions. Regardless of the cause, low back pain can be a debilitating condition that affects daily life.

One of the most important steps in managing low back pain is to identify the underlying cause. This will involve a thorough physical examination, by one of our highly qualified physiotherapists. Once the cause has been identified, treatment options can be explored.

Depending on the cause of low back pain, treatment may involve a combination of medication, physiotherapy, and lifestyle changes. For example, if low back pain is caused by poor posture, exercises to strengthen the core muscles and improve posture may be recommended. If the pain is due to an injury, rest, ice, and physiotherapy may be prescribed.

In some cases, surgery may be necessary to treat low back pain. This may be the case if there is a herniated disc or other structural problem that is causing the pain. However, surgery is typically considered a last resort and is only recommended if conservative treatment options have failed.

Preventing low back pain is also important. This can be done through regular exercise, maintaining good posture, and avoiding activities that put unnecessary strain on the back. If you work at a desk or spend a lot of time sitting, taking frequent breaks to stretch and move around can also help prevent low back pain.

In summary, low back pain is a common condition that can be caused by a variety of factors. Identifying the underlying cause and pursuing appropriate treatment is key to managing the pain and improving quality of life. Preventing low back pain through regular exercise and good posture is also important.

Mr Nigel Howell - Physiotherapist at The Physio Therapy Centre - Haywards Heath

Mr Nigel Howell

Job Title:
  Physiotherapist
Biography:
Nigel is Lead Physio and Practice Owner. Nigel trained at the Pinderfields School of Physiotherapy and graduated in 1990. He worked in the NHS for three years before starting in private practice at the Physio Therapy Centre. Nigel enjoys outpatient physiotherapy, employing mobilisation, manipulation, soft tissue techniques and home exercises as his main treatment modalities. As with the other physiotherapists here, many of Nigel’s patients have problems associated with their spines. Nigel is experienced in helping to restore normal movement with these and other issues. Nigel is certain of the need for rehabilitation, where the patient continues with specific home exercises and frequently refers on to rehabilitation/clinical pilates courses. Ultimately Nigel, along with the other therapists at this centre, believes in maximum self reliance of the patient and tries, whenever possible, to give the patient the necessary tools to be able to help themselves and prevent re-occurrence of problems. Nigel is an active sportsman, still participating regularly in five-a-side football, tennis, swimming and jogging. He has three children and lives in Hove. Continual professional development is an on-going policy of this practice and Nigel is involved heavily in this as a course organiser, presenter and participant. Nigel regularly attends external courses covering a wide range of subjects associated with the musculo-skeletal system.
