Reducing the pain and increasing the mobility of patients with painful musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and sports injuries is the main focus of this team of chartered physiotherapists who are registered with the Health Professions Council. The team treats patients at clinics located at Smithwood, Knowle, Solihull and Birmingham in the West Midlands. The team specializes in neuro-physiotherapy that involves treating conditions that affect the nervous system. Referrals are accepted from orthopaedicians for patients requiring rehabilitation through physiotherapy. Services provided include manual physiotherapy, neuro-physiotherapy, Pilates, exercise therapy, myofascial release and post injury and post-operative rehabilitation.

Job Title: Physiotherapist Biography: I have over 20 years experience as chartered physiotherapist. My experience is wide and varied and has been gained in both the NHS and Private Sector of Health Care. Specialties include: Trauma and the treatment of soft tissue injuries. Sports injury management: previously involved with the support of a wide range of sports at elite level including: ice skating and gymnastics (artistic and rhythmic) Dance : I work in the field of classical ballet at a local vocational ballet school. My role involves the education of students in the prevention of injury and the importance of conditioning. Movement analysis / biomechanics is a key element of my practice. Orthopaedics – treatment of joint pain and spinal pain Late stage rehab following injury or joint replacement surgery is essential. I am able to support patients in achieving a full recovery by treatment based at a wide range of facilities including a private gym and hydrotherapy pool. I remain committed to the development of the profession and part of my time is spent supporting physiotherapy students from a local university whilst they are on placement in a variety of NHS facilities across the Midlands.

I have had experience in working in a varied clinical environment with many other health care professionals. My career has spanned both the NHS, Private Sector in addition to Charitable Trusts. My areas of particular expertise include: Acquired brain injury in adults and paediatrics: This often involves working with case managers and members of the multidisciplinary team with clients with complex needs. Spinal cord injury, both complete and incomplete. Multiple sclerosis: I am currently the Solihull Branch of the MS Society’s specialist physiotherapist providing their members with neurological rehabilitation. Medico legal report writing: for clients with acquired injury. I have completed a medico-legal course with both the chartered Society of Physiotherapy and a London firm of Solicitors. Stroke rehabilitation. Peripheral neurological disorders. The use of Functional Electrical Stimulation: for treatment of Bells Palsy, post surgical nerve damage in addition to use of the foot switch in stroke and MS. Treatment of clients in hydrotherapy pools for rehabilitation. I also have life saving training. Rehabilitation following brain and spinal cord surgery in both adults and paediatrics. I also assist carers and family in managing at home after hospital discharge and work closely with both Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists when necessary.
