Stephen Makinde trained at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in Hampstead, London, where he undertook the full-time degree course in Osteopathic Medicine and Naturopathy. Stephen now teaches on the undergraduate and post-graduate conversion course run for international Osteopaths. Stephen Makinde firmly believes that anatomy and information are at the core of any good Osteopathy practitioner and this should be passed on to each and every client, so that they can understand what is going on with their bodies in a logical way.
As well as his undergraduate training, Stephen Makinde has an MSc in Neuroscience from Queens Square, London. Stephen finds this an added bonus to understanding, treating and managing a multitude of clients problems in a much more comprehensive way, as he has a good understanding of the complicated nervous system. Stephen Makinde has completed numerous courses and keeps up-to-date with current issues with in the field of medicine. Stephen is able to use a multitude of techniques such as cranial osteopathy, medical acupuncture, functional positional release, MET, PNF, manipulation and many others. Stephen is convinced that the Osteopathy treatment itself should not be painful and strictly maintains this ethos.
Stephen comes from a strong sports background and continues to follow his passion for sports by treating many top level professional athletes, such as sprinters/long-distance runners, long and triple jumpers, tennis players and golfers. Stephen loves the gym environment as he is able to work closely with personal trainers, biomechanics specialists and Physiotherapists, making sure he gets to the core of clients problems and keeping them away. His training as an Osteopath and Clinical Neuroscientist has indeed helped with his evidence base and problem solving, leading Stephen to understand the importance of a thorough case history to formulate the best approach to a problem.
Stephen is one of the Practitioners involved in running our performance biomechanical clinics and uses Quintic™ biomechanical analysis software and GaitScan™ force plate analysis software to get excellent results, particularly reduced injury occurrence with junior and top-level athletes, from many sports.
