Sports massage is a form of body work involving the manipulation of soft
tissue to benefit people engaged in regular physical activity. Soft
tissue is connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and
cartilage; it includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.
This form of massage has been designed to assist in correcting problems
and imbalances of soft tissue that can stem from repetitive and
strenuous physical activity or trauma. The application of this massage
prior to or following exercise/competition can enhance performance, aid
recovery and prevent injury.
