Established in 1991, Lathom Physiotherapy Centre has six chartered physiotherapists, all of whom are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and are registered with the Health Professions Council, and a sports massage therapist.
We specialise in the management of musculoskeletal conditions but each of us has our own areas of special interest and Post Graduate qualifications, including membership of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, and physiofirst, the organisation for private practitioners.
Jackie is a lecturer on the physiotherapy programmes in the Department of Health Professions, Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care, Manchester Metropolitan University.
Jackie qualified as a physiotherapist in 1986 and has worked in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in the NHS in both primary, secondary care and in private practice. In 1999 Jackie took on the role of lecturer practitioner at the Manchester School of Physiotherapy, teaching on the undergraduate physiotherapy programme. In 2002, she took on a full time academic role as a lecturer on the physiotherapy programmes at Manchester Met gaining PGDip in Manual Therapy, leading to MSc in Manual Therapy in 2007.
Currently Jackie is the joint unit lead for the Manual Therapy pathway, MSc Advanced Physiotherapy at Manchester Met. She teaches across the pre and post registration programmes, supervises undergraduate and post graduate projects (MSc and PhD). Her own research has focused on technology enhanced learning and has submitted to conferences such as WCPT and IFOMPT.
