About Thorpes Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic - Yateley
Chartered physiotherapists treat patients suffering from painful musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and sports injuries at these three clinics located at Sandhurst, Yateley and Fleet in Hampshire. Job Title: Physiotherapist Biography: Jonathan graduated at the University of Huddersfield, obtaining a 1st class BSc Honours degree in Physiotherapy. Since then he has specialised in Orthopaedic Medicine, obtaining both a Masters Degree (MSc) and Fellowship in Orthopaedic Medicine (FSOM). Jonathan is one of only 12 people with these qualifications within the UK. He also has Diplomas in Advanced Clinical Practice and Injection Therapy.
Jonathan lectures in the UK on Orthopaedic Medicine courses to both GP’s and Physiotherapists and was a guest speaker at the 2008 national Orthopaedic Medicine Symposium (see award link). He has extensive experience in assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and sports injuries.
Jonathan works part-time in the NHS as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist, specialising in the assessment and treatment of both upper and lower limb conditions. Through this work, he has formed excellent working relationships with some of the most highly regarded Orthopaedic Consultants in the area.
Ms Hannah Smith
Job Title: Physiotherapist Biography: Hannah graduated with a BSc Hons degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Huddersfield in 2003. Following this she completed her junior rotations at Frimley Park Hospital before moving to Southampton to specialise in neurology. Having gained invaluable experience in the rehabilitation of many neurological conditions, Hannah returned to Frimley Park 3 years later and is an integral member of the Neurology team.
Hannah’s passion is rehabilitation and she has a special interest in stroke, MS and Guillain Barre syndrome. Her creative and positive approach is inspiring to her patients.
Hannah works with patients to understand their problems and uses in-depth clinical reasoning to identify causative factors thus ensuring a specific and effective treatment plan. Hannah ensures that the treatments she provides are evidence based by attending appropriate training and has completed the basic Bobath Course.
Miss Pauline Richardson
Job Title: Practice Therapist Biography: Pauline graduated at the University of East Anglia with a BSc Honours degree in Physiotherapy. She works as a senior Physiotherapist at Frimley Park Hospital in Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Pauline has a special interest in Sport rehabilitation and is currently the lead Physiotherapist at Farnborough Rugby club. Pauline's current goal is to undertake a Masters degree and her fun and positive approach is inspiring to her clients
Mr Ashley Fowler
Job Title: Physiotherapist Biography: Ashley graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2012 with a BSc Honours degree in Physiotherapy. Since graduation, Ashley has gained a wealth of experience working in musculoskeletal clinics, occupational health and providing sports specific rehabilitation. He is acupuncture qualified and has recently completed an advanced post-graduate diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine. He is now working towards his Masters degree in Musculoskeletal Medicine with SOMM in order to further enhance his clinical skills.
Ashley has a special interest in shoulder dysfunction and sport specific rehabilitation. In his spare time Ashley enjoys weightlifting, cycling and running and is very passionate about returning his patients to full fitness and achieving their personal goals. Mrs Emily Strickland
Job Title: Physiotherapist Biography: Emily qualified with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy in 1998 from Kings College London and spent her early career working at Guys and St Thomas’ hospitals.
She began to specialise in musculoskeletal outpatients in 2002 and has worked in this area since.
She completed an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy at Cardiff university in 2007 ,winning a research prize for her work on the effect of fatigue in endurance injuries.
She has spent the last 15 years working in private practice and for the Ministry of Defence. She has been the physio for the Army Women’s cricket team and has had leading roles in injury prevention and the musculoskeletal training of new GP’s.
She thrives on the challenge of complex orthopaedic trauma but equally enjoys the more common lower limb injuries. She utilises traditional Physiotherapy techniques alongside other treatment approaches including Acupuncture
Mrs Kate McGowan
Job Title: Physiotherapist Biography: Kate is a Chartered Physiotherapist and Sport Scientist. She started as an NHS Physiotherapy Technician in 1998 before going on to graduate with a Physiotherapy degree in 2005 from Brunel University. Kate then worked at Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Trust and Surrey Primary Care Trust. Since leaving the NHS, Kate has worked in private clinics where she specialises in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with everyone from teenagers to the elderly.
Kate is an approachable, friendly practitioner who builds a good rapport with her patients. She is registered with the Health Care Professions Council and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Kate is an avid sports enthusiast with a keen interest in squash and hockey, having played both at an international level
