About Body Max Sports Therapy
Are you wondering if a Sports Massage is only for an athlete? If so, you couldn’t be more wrong! As well as treating athletes from a very wide variety of sports, I have also helped many other people on their path to recovery who do not participate in any sport whatsoever. I treat both male and female clients ranging from pre-adolescent to those who have retired. It doesn’t matter what sport you play, visit the gym, are an office worker, have a physically demanding job, are an university student, if you’re recovering from an accident or are just suffering from that persistent niggle that you keep trying to run or walk off – I can help to relieve the pain, facilitate your movement, encourage your relaxation and get you back enjoying what you do. I also promise to treat all my clients with the utmost respect, preserving their dignity and confidentiality at all times!
WHAT IS SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPY? Sports Massage is an aspect of healthcare that involves the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including the muscles, tendons and ligaments. It utilises the principles of sport and exercise sciences incorporating physiological and pathological processes to prepare the client for functional and/or sporting activities. It aids your recovery and releases tension in muscles through deep massage. Its aim is to return the injured client back to full fitness and functionality as quickly as possible.
Treatments are used to;
• Decrease pain
• Reduce inflammation
• Increase flexibility
• Accelerate healing
• Increase mobility
Dealing with muscular and connective tissue issues along with muscular symmetry, muscular tone and posture, it can also be used as a preventative measure and has many benefits both physical and psychological which aid recovery during and after treatment. It is applicable not just to sports people but to anybody wishing to guard against or recover from a soft tissue injury.
A medical opinion: Evidence for the therapeutic and clinical benefits of massage, from both research studies and patient reports, is extremely strong. Sports Medicine, doctors and specialists strongly support its use.
