I feel more relaxed

5 50 Deep Tissue Massage, Cupping

With a painful shoulder, David spent some time discussing the potential reasons for the pain, in a very friendly and relaxed manner. He then used acupuncture and cupping, as well as massage to move the pain. The whole treatment was very relaxing and I came away strangely refreshed, but slept sound all night. The pain has definitely reduced and I feel more relaxed about it. I would have no hesitation in recommending David to anyone as an alternative way of treating pain.

Very relaxed and welcoming - but very professional too.

David is very thorough, really seems to know his stuff! Very professional and attentive to details. I was so zoned out on the massage table, I fell asleep! And that is not like me at all! So, yeah, I highly recommend this clinic. Have been a regular for shoulder tension due to stressful lifestyle.

Massage and Acupuncture

Since I started treatment it has helped me a lot. It has improved my life since I started. When I started seeing David I had very bad anxiety and it has improved a lot over the months, plus he noticed that my left leg was longer than my right leg and this was possibly causing the pain in my back. David advised me to see my GP to further examine my hips and legs to find the cause. My GP said to me that David must be a very good therapist to spot this. I'd like to thank David for all his help and I would highly recommend him.

Thank you Steven for your pleasant review and recommendation. It is the goal of Lucan Massage Clinic to get the best results; this sometimes means referral for further investigation as you mentioned. We highly value your feedback and look forward to seeing you in the future Best wishes David :)

Tui Na

Tui Na - Lucan Massage ClinicTui Na - Lucan Massage Clinic

What is Tui Na?

Tui Na (pronounced "Twee-Na") is a type of therapeutic massage.  It's history is thousands of years old and it has developed into a highly successful and modern system of medicine.

It is one of the pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is often used in combination with other branches of Chinese medicine like acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine.

That said, Tui Na can excel as a therapy in it's own right.  It is used in all the major hospitals in China where it is so effective that it is classed as a distinct medical system in it's own right.

WHAT CAN TUI NA TREAT?

Tui Na can be used in a variety of situations, anything from a general massage to treatment for sports injuries.  It is particularly useful in treating pain conditions...

•Neck pain and Frozen Shoulder

•Headache

•Low energy / Poor circulation

•Digestive Disorders

•Back pain / Sciatica

•Rheumatism / Arthritis

•Joint pain / Limited Movement

•Ankle or Wrist pain

•Sports injuries

•Stress / Anxiety

•Insomnia

•Gynaecological Problems

Tui Na

What can i expect from a Tui Na treatment?

One of the biggest advantages Tui Na has over other therapies is that a Tui Na patient is usually treated while fully clothed.

A Tui Na practitioner uses a combination of hand techniques, manipulation and mobilisation of joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments to align the musculo-skeletal system, to treat pain and encourage the flow of Qi (pron. 'Chee') and Blood in the body.

Among it's many other benefits, Tui Na often brings a sense of well being after a treatment and over time this can have a profound psychological affect.  This is one reason why people who try Tui Na, often find it becomes their treatment of choice.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage targets the deep tissue structure of the fascia and muscles, referred to as connective tissue. Of the many types of massage, deep tissue focuses on the release of muscle tension and chronic knots.

Deep tissue massage can break up and eliminate scar tissue from previous injuries. A common problem is that stressed muscles can block nutrients and oxygen from getting to where they need to go, and this will cause inflammation that allows toxins to build up in your muscle tissue.

The inflammation and toxins contribute to pain and stress. Deep Tissue Massage breaks up and releases the built-up toxins by loosening the muscles. With the toxins released, blood and oxygen can circulate as they should through one’s body. Being properly hydrated before you go to your massage appointment and drinking plenty of water after one of these massages is highly recommended.

The strokes used in deep tissue massage are similar to those used in a Swedish Massage except more pressure is used and it uses cross grain strokes (strokes that go across the gain of the muscles instead of with the grain). As with a classic Swedish massage, you will be lying on a massage table and covered with a sheet or towel.

A good way to recover from a Deep Tissue Massage is by soaking in a warm bath with Epsom salt. This soaking is recommended because it will help get more of the toxins out of your body (Epsom salt draws the toxins out into the water). Your muscles need some rest after one of these massages, even if you feel no soreness. So do not plan any activities within a day of a Deep Tissue Massage.

Some people think that if you just push hard enough, a knot could be worked out in one session, but this is not the case. For built-up tension and chronic knots (adhesions) deep tissue massage is just one part of the treatment.

Facial Massage

Facial Massage - Lucan Massage Clinic

Want younger-looking skin? Here's the rub: Facial massage can firm and smooth.

Whether it's a seaweed-based cream or a tofu-rich diet, the beauty secrets of the Far East have long held appeal for Western women. But it's only recently that their key anti-aging weapon has entered the spotlight.

Facial massage - a series of hand manipulation techniques that relax muscles and increase circulation - has its roots in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and has been practised for more than 1,000 years to maintain health and beauty.

The theory in TCM is that your facial appearance is  a reflection of your body's internal condition, for instance, a kidney deficiency can show up as deep, dark circles under your eyes. While massage alone won't treat internal/systemic health problems, when done regularly it can help relax the face and alleviate dullness, sagging and even frown lines.

Full Body Massage

By far, the most popular benefit of Full Body Massage is that it is both relaxing and invigorating. It is an excellent way to help rid the body of tension and to achieve a sense of overall well-being.

A standard Full Body session lasts for 60 or 90 minutes, and addresses most major muscle groups of the body. The session is usually performed on a soft massage table, in an environment that is meant to relax the recipient. The strokes of the massage relax individual muscles, while the overall experience eliminates mental stress.Sessions can target specific areas of pain like a sprained ankle, or they can be used to help manage the chronic pain that comes with conditions like arthritis. By using strokes that improve circulation and increase body-wide relaxation, the massage therapist can help make many painful conditions more bearable. The strokes of massage replicate the movements of the circulatory system. By performing the strokes toward the heart, massage drains metabolic waste from the limbs of the body.

Massage can break up muscle adhesions and help promote the healthy healing of scar tissue. Swedish Massage uses strokes like cross-fiber friction to work out the kinks that can accompany injured muscles. These strokes help get rid of scar tissue and return the muscles to their normal, healthy state.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage - Lucan Massage ClinicThai Massage - Lucan Massage Clinic

Treatment is 90 mins in duration

Thai massage is a system of massage and manipulation developed in Thailand, and influenced by the traditional medicine systems of India, China, and Southeast Asia, as well as by Yoga.

Practice

The massage recipient changes into loose, comfortable clothes and lies on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. The receiver may be positioned in a variety of yoga-like positions during the course of the massage, but deep static and rhythmic pressures form the core of the massage.

The massage practitioner leans on the recipient's body using hands and usually straight forearms locked at the elbow to apply firm rhythmic pressure. The massage generally follows designated lines (Sen) in the body. Legs and feet of the giver can be used to fixate the body or limbs of the recipient. In other positions, hands fixate the body, while the feet do the massaging action.

A full Thai massage session typically lasts two hours or more, and includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire body; this may include pulling fingers, toes, ears, cracking the knuckles, walking on the recipient's back, and manipulating the recipients body into many different positions. There is a standard procedure and rhythm to the massage, which the practitioner will adjust to fit each individual client.

Benefits

Most of us know that massage feels good; but therapeutic massage, such as Thai traditional massage, also provides relief to a multitude of specific health concerns. Therapeutic massage is part of an integrative care approach to many medical conditions

An important element of Eastern medicine is the concept of life force or energy. In Yogic terms, it is referred to as prana, in Chinese it is called chi, and in Thai it is called loom. All are referring to the basic principle of life force ener

Acupressure

Acupressure - Lucan Massage Clinic

Acupressure [from Latin acus "needle" + pressure] is an alternative medicine technique similar in principle to Acupuncture. It is based on the concept of life energy which flows through "meridians" in the body.

I

n treatment, physical pressure is applied to trigger points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Pressure may be applied by hand, by elbow, or with various devices.

Acupoints used in treatment may or may not be in the same area of the body as the targeted symptom. The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory for the selection of such points and their effectiveness is that they work by stimulating the meridian system to bring about relief by rebalancing Yin, Yang Blood and Qi (also spelled "chi"). This theory is based on the paradigm of TCM

Many East Asian Martial Arts also make extensive study and use of acupressure for self-defense and health purposes (Tui Na). Martial artists regularly massage their own acupressure points in routines to remove blockages from their own meridians, claiming to thereby enhance their circulation and flexibility and keeping the points "soft" or less vulnerable to an attack.
