Beard Transplant

Restoring Hair to the Goatee, Moustache, Beard and SideburnsFacial hair transplantation is a procedure which restores hair to areas where facial hair growth is thin or missing. While this procedure is most commonly performed on the goatee and moustache areas, it can also be performed on beards, sideburns and cheeks. Facial hair transplants can also be used to conceal acne scars and other types of scars. Loss of facial hair may occur for a number of reasons. It can be the result of genetics, laser hair removal, electrolysis, surgery, burns or injury. Goals for this procedure can vary from a minor filling in or thin coverage of a limited area to the full restoration of a thick, full goatee or beard. The procedure can be performed on areas where there is no hair or on areas where hair growth is thin and more fullness is desired. The number of grafts required can vary but averages are as follows: 350-500 grafts for the moustache, 600-700 grafts for a full goatee, 200-250 grafts for each sideburn, and 300-700 grafts for a cheek beard. While not very common, some patients may require a second procedure to transplant additional grafts if they desire a very thick density. Just as with a hair transplant to the head, the donor hairs for a facial hair transplant come from the back or sides of the scalp. Which site is used typically depends on which offers the closest match to the facial hair; sometimes it’s the back of the scalp while other times it’s the side of the scalp. Once transplanted, the hairs are permanent and typically grow just like facial hair with similar texture and other characteristics. Furthermore, the transplanted hair can be shaved just as you would other facial hair.

Eyebrow Transplant

Brow transplantation is one of the most aesthetically challenging procedures to perform, but when done by experts, can provide an impressive result.  This procedure can be done by both the FUE or the FUG/strip technique, but most importantly requires the careful making of recipient sites for the hairs that will determine the direction and angulation of growth, as well as the aesthetic designing of what should be natural appearing eyebrows that complement the rest of the patient’s facial features. Though one may not notice when he/she has full and well-shaped eyebrows, it’s very easy to identify if your eyebrows have become too thin or are practically absent. When this occurs, the appearance of your face may affect your self-esteem and reduce your confidence. Due to developments in hair transplantation techniques over the past 10 years, eyebrow transplantation is possible and when performed properly, can provide beautiful results Whether you’ve gone through permanent hair loss in the area or are starting to experience thinning due to over-plucking or genetic issues, an eyebrow transplant can restore your eyebrows. Treatment for Male Pattern Baldness

Male Pattern Baldness generally follows a set pattern of a receding hairline, followed by thinning of the hair on the crown and temples. This is the most common type of hair loss and usually starts around the late 20s or early 30s. By the late 30s, most men have some degree of hair loss. Male Pattern Baldness can leave a horseshoe shape of hair around the back and sides of the head and it could progress to complete baldness, although this is rare. There are two treatmentsThere are 2 products on the market that have made huge advances in treating men’s hair loss.   XXX, commercially known as xxx©, is only available via private prescription and not on the NHS. Minoxidil is available by private prescription if you require stronger 10% or 15% solutions. A weaker 5% (commercially known as Regaine®) is available over the counter. Both can slow down or stop hair loss, but they’re not miracle cures. However, even though these 2 products are the best in the market, they might not work for everyone and the result only lasts for as long as you keep using them. Remember – there’s no lotion, medication, shampoo, massage or laser treatment that will ever bring back your lost hair. If you already have lost hair and have bald patches, only a Hair Transplant can restore them.

FUE - Follicular Unit Extraction

The FUE Hair Transplant ProcedureFUE or Follicular Unit Extraction involves removing healthy hair follicles directly from a donor area on the scalp (usually at the back of the head where the hair is plentiful) and grafting them onto the bald or thinning areas. The treatment is carried out under local rather than general anaesthetic, eliminating risks and downtime associated with other hair transplant procedures. And, because the treatment is minimally invasive, there is no detectable scarring and, in most cases, patients are able to return to work the next day with their results. The method uses a specialised punch device, ranging in diameter from 0.6mm – 0.9mm, to extract follicular units complete with necessary glands. This separates surrounding tissue from the unit, meaning minimum trauma and better results, as well as minimal risk of any detectable scarring. Transplantation of all the vital elements of each hair follicle means a better survival rate and better growth. The treatment is performed under a high-powered microscope using specially designed instruments, allowing the surgeon to work with the utmost precision for natural-looking, undetectable results. You will be treated by highly experienced Doctors. Our Hair Transplant surgeons specialised in FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and treat hundreds of patients every year.FUE is a minimally invasive treatment, carried out under local anaesthetic – many patients either watch TV or even fall asleep during the procedure. Unlike the Strip (FUT) procedure, you won’t require any stitches after your treatment. This means that the recovery time is also reduced when compared to the Strip surgery. We use the finest instruments, resulting in as minimal trauma to your scalp as possible. Thanks to our advanced skills and techniques, results can be undetectable.
