FUE - Follicular Unit Extraction 1
It consists
in harvesting, using a punch (0.8 mm), at the occipital and temporal donor
area, the follicular units to be transplanted directly into the bald area to be
treated. Although the quality of the graft is directly dependent follicular
operator. Improvements on the instrumentation have increased the speed of
withdrawal and significantly reduce the loss of follicular units.
The procedure is
performed under local anesthesia.
Before, marking
pencil can delineate the bald and hairy treat to take zone.
The harvesting
area is shaved maintaining a millimeter in length. On average a surface area of
??100 cm2 (20x5cm) allows the removal of follicular units 500 to 1000.
The patient is positioned lying face down. The head is
placed on a suitable pad open at the face to ensure adequate comfort.
The
follicular units are extracted one by one using micro-instruments
The grafts are controlled to ensure their quality and
then stored in ice-cold saline before being relocated.
Average 500 to 1000 follicular units are taken in 2 to
4 hours.
Each follicular unit contains 2-3 hair.
500 follicular units correspond to a quantity of 1000 hair and 1000 hair
follicular units correspond to 2000 hair.
After harvesting
all follicular units, the patient is semi-sitting. The implantation of
follicular units is performed using an implanter of Choi. This allows the
collection of micro-slits of the graft while introducing at the same time.
After
surgery, you remain in monitoring one to two hours in a room.
