Herts and Essex Fertility Centre

He our Medical Director, graduated at The London Hospital Medical College (University of London) in 1976. He set up the Herts & Essex Fertility Centre (formerly known as the Essex Fertility Centre at Holly House Hospital, Buckhurst Hill) in 1989. He has almost 30 years’ experience working exclusively in the field of IVF and Assisted Conception since 1984, initially in the NHS. The following year in 1985, together with two other Gynaecologists he was a founder member of The Fertility & IVF Unit at the private Wellington Hospital in London under the directorship of Professor Craft renowned for his pioneering work in IVF and being the second person in the UK to produce an IVF baby after Mr Steptoe. The Unit quickly became the largest and busiest IVF unit in the world performing over 3500 IVF cycles per year. Michael was Deputy Medical Director when he left in 1989 to start his independent IVF centre.

William has vast experience in the field of IVF and Assisted Conception. He has worked exclusively in Fertility, since joining our Medical Director, Michael Ah-Moye 27 years ago at the IVF & Fertility Unit at the Wellington Hospital, London in 1987, and moved to the IVF Unit at the Cromwell Hospital in London, in 1990. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists. In 1998, William became an invaluable, well respected and much loved member of the Herts & Essex’s medical team. His congenial personality was widely appreciated, and endeared him greatly to both staff and patients. He now works at the Centre on a part time basis as he enjoys a well-earned semi-retirement! After 27 years in the field William is able to bring his vast experience to bear on the most complex fertility cases. His current interest is in the investigation and management of recurrent failed implantation and diminished ovarian reserve.

Director of Clinical Services/Registered Manager to CQC/Centre Manager Debbie qualified as an RGN in 1985. Her early career was spent in Coronary Care Units but she soon moved into Nurse Management. She specialised for 15 years in Fertility Management and has been with the Herts & Essex Fertility Centre since 2007. As Director of Clinical Services, Debbie takes ownership of the day-to-day clinical management of the Centre, with direct responsibility for 30 members of staff. Her senior role has not changed her approach or her work ethos: she is as passionate about patient care today as when she first joined the nursing profession.
