Born in Germany in 1970 and raised in Athens. He graduated the public school of Kifissia in 1988 and studied medicine at the University of Vienna, where he graduated with the title Dr. med. Univ. He started his postgraduate studies in 1998 at the Hospital Nordhausen, Germany. He was trained in Ophthalmology at the University of Dresden under the supervision of internationally renowned ophthalmologists as Prof. Theo Seiler (Refractive Surgery) and Lutz Pillunat (Glaucoma). From 2001-2005 was actively involved at the glaucoma research group at the University of Dresden. Completing his training in Ophthalmology he successfully passed the exams of the German Ophthalmological Medical Association. He continued his studies, specializing in Cataract and Refractive Surgery (myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia, astigmatism correction) in Olten, Switzerland. Then he became Consultant of the Ophthalmology Clinic Bautzen Germany, educational clinic of the University of Dresden. Because of his great experience in retina diseases he was responsible for the training of specializing Ophthalmologists in Fluoresceinangiography and Indocyanin angiography as well as laser photocoagulation. After a 16-year stay in Austria, Switzerland and Germany he returned to Greece in 2006. He is one of the first Europeans ophthalmologists who used the method of gold implants (Gold-Shunt) to regulate the intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients. At the 2007 International Glaucoma Congress in Athens together with three other colleagues from abroad presented a training seminar about the implantation of the Gold-Shunts in Glaucoma patients. In the field of the Children Ophthalmology, his role is pioneering in Greece since in 2006 he began screening all newborns regardless of the age of birth examining 2000 newborns annually. He has many scientific articles and several papers in international journals. He is a member of the Greek and the German Ophthalmological Society.
