Footmech Podiatry is run by Iain Johnston. Podiatrist with 24years of experience in all fields of Podiatric Medicine. Special interests in Musculoskeletal Biomechanics and orthotics, as well as Fungal Nail treatment with Laser, and many treatment approaches for Verrucae management . Qualified in South Africa at Witswatersrand Technikon, has worked in private practice ever since, with the last eleven years in the UK. The clinic prides itself in an individualised approach to each case. Understanding the cause behind every condition is the key to solving the problem. Many unresolved issues find a solution at Footmech Podiatry. We have a Visiting specialist from South Africa, a Biokinetist who intimately understands postural issues, scoliosis, aches and pains, back neck and shoulder complaints. Finding the cause and providing solutions that aim to relieve and cure the condition. The integration of Podiatry and Biokinetics covers many angles of care and many satisfactory outcomes. In addition, we have a visiting Kinesiologist...Mrs Vonnie Smart-Bucknall, who has many years experience in Energy medicine. Vonnie was named the best Kinesiologist in the UK in 2012. Looking at food intolerances, nutritional imbalances, stress release and meridian balancing. Integrating the approach to dealing with immune system weakness, supporting the bodies own healing mechanisms. A fantastic synergy with the holistic approach the clinic takes to troublesome conditions like Nail Fungus.

Just a few weeks of physiotherapy, I’m now able to walk comfortably again

I went to Iain following a sports injury that damaged my tendons and caused my arch to drop, resulting in excruciating pain when walking. Iain made a thorough biomechanical assessment and after just a few weeks of physiotherapy, I’m now able to walk comfortably again. His treatment was so thorough that through manipulation of specific points near my clavicle he even managed to free up my neck which had been locked rigid for months. Totally recommend him.

Iain is very knowledgeable and uses the latest treatments, his vast experience and fascia manipulation to treat all foot and leg ailments. He fully assessed me, explained what he thought was wrong and how he was going to treat it. He also gave me a rough estimate of future treatment costs. The total amount would depend on how quickly I responded to treatment, and if I did my exercises properly.

With his help, I have gone from having leg pain every evening after work, to being able to walk five miles a day.

Wart Removal

I had been diagnosed with Verruca by my GP and that is why I looked to be seen by a Podiatrist. Iain was very knowledgeable and offered treatment options that can treat this. But he would very much want to see for himself to ensure the diagnosis was correct. I made an appt asap - turns out that I had a foreign object that was pushing into my heel which was causing an incredible amount of pain and tenderness. He only charged me for the services he performed and actually analysed my foot enough to advice me of a biomechanical foot assessment which was badly needed. I have decided to go ahead with that and get customized insoles which will enable me to walk correctly and help with long-term management of pain in my heels and ankle.

Impressive improvement

Iain qualified in 1989 with a Higher National Diploma in Podiatry at the Witswatersrand Technikon. Having worked in private practice for 12 years in Durban, South Africa, exposed to the full range of foot conditions, especially focused on Podiatric Biomechanics in the management of foot and leg pain.

Now practicing in Reigate Surrey for the last 11 years, has developed a successful integrated multi-disciplinary practice that can deal with many chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Iain has huge experience in dealing with musculo skeletal pain in relation to foot function. He utilises upo to date approaches to improving foot function, which involes effective strechign techniques, ankle and foot mobilisation, soft tissue manipulation, footwear advice, gait analysis, gait scan, Compex neuro-muscular stimulation.

The clinic also specialises in Nail fungal treatment ultilising the latest laser applications for fungal nail infection.
