Ms May Simpkin
Job Title:
Dietician Biography:
My interest in food, it’s therapeutic uses and the impact it can exert on our lifestyle, prompted me to study Nutritional Therapy back in 2009. A bad diet, lacking in the right nutrients can account for a number of conditions that, all too often, we accept as part of our normal lives.
I continued studying until I achieved an MSc with Merit in Personalised Nutrition in 2013, which has added enormous value to my research and clinical capability. My focus is on personalised healthcare using the “Functional Medicine” approach, which primarily addresses disease prevention and underlying causes of chronic illness, using both mainstream and complimentary approaches. It has allowed me to consider a more systems based approach to health, providing a deeper insight into how any potential imbalances in one area may be influencing or linked with another.
My clinical experience since qualifying has highlighted that we all have unique nutritional requirements and a ‘one-size fits all’ is not appropriate across different groups; gender, age, stage of life are all significant factors.
By improving knowledge and understanding of how food affects your wellbeing and by providing practical, achievable plans for private and corporate clients, your overall health and quality of life can be significantly enhanced.
