I am recovering from addiction to alcohol and pills. I was doing well through the support of the AA and NA (both are brilliant) when in early 2019 I started to feel depressed. I never had felt that feeling and its effects before, I didn't know what was going on.
I told my then doctor that I was so low I was contemplating suicide.
All he did was a series of paper assessments and referred me to counselling services, which I already was using. They are great and ironically it was they that made the GP referral - it was like tennis, the doctor just bounced it back. I was desperate and an AA colleague told me to access Doctor Stephen.
I did, I told him my story, he listened intently, asking the odd question or two. At the end of my blab, he diagnosed me with chronic depression and prescribed me a serotonin-based non-addictive anti-depressant, which has changed my life, given me hope and lifted the cloud.
He is simply the most brilliant GP I have ever worked with. I can recommend him so much. He is also just a lovely human being. A Healer.
