Windmill Orthodontics - Gateshead

Qualified from Newcastle in 1984. Determined to be an academic orthodontist, he undertook house jobs in Birmingham and Newcastle. He was a junior lecturer in oral biology for 2 years gaining his Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS) degree. He then headed north to Glasgow for his registrar training in oral and maxillo facial surgery, paedodontics (children's dentistry), prosthodontics (dentures), periodontics and oral medicine, gaining his Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDS, RCPS).

Born and raised in Liverpool, Peter qualified from Bristol in 1978 and immediately moved to Newcastle Dental Hospital for a one year house officer post – a move north which became permanent. Leaving hospital employment to work in general dental practice, he worked in west Newcastle and Houghton le Spring before settling into practice in Gateshead as a partner in 1984. In 1990 he was fortunate to be accepted onto Newcastle Dental Hospital’s extended training programme for general practitioners, and since then has provided orthodontic treatment from his general practice for patients of several other practices in the area, with orthodontic treatment making up about half of his workload. Following the reorganisation of local NHS orthodontic services in April 2012, he has now joined Windmill Orthodontics in Gateshead on a part-time basis to continue to provide orthodontic treatment as major part of a varied professional life.

Maria was born and raised in Seville, Spain. She obtained her Dental Surgery degree at Alfonso X el Sabio University, Madrid in 2005. She moved to England to work as a general dentist combined with studying a Certificate in Orthodontics by Ghnatos Foundation in Madrid. In 2008 she undertook her orthodontic training in the Advanced Program in Orthodontics for International Dentists at New York University College of Dentistry, USA. After that, she obtained her Diploma in Advance Studies in Orthodontics at Seville University in 2010.
