Mr Simon Whitley
Biography:
Simon qualified in both medicine and dentistry from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He undertook basic surgical training in the northeast of England before going on to obtain specialist training in Cardiff and Manchester. He was appointed as a consultant in 2006. As well as working at Barts and The Royal London Hospitals, he is a Consultant at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow. Simon manages patients with a wide range of general oral & maxillofacial problems ranging from impacted teeth, facial pain, and benign mouth conditions. He has a specialist interest in the managment of head and neck cancer, salivary gland surgery, facial skin cancer and reconstruction following cancer surgery. Within the NHS he is the lead clinician and chair of the head and neck multidisciplinary team for north east London. He has recently been appointed as Head & Neck Pathway Director for London Cancer and was previously chair of the north east London cancer network tumour advisory board for head and neck, and lead clinician for head and neck services at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He is actively involved in the training of junior surgeons, medical and dental students and presents and publishes widely.
