Niel qualified as a dentist at the University of Stellenbosch near Cape Town in South Africa in the year 2000. After relocating to England, he dedicated five years to NHS dentistry, after which he moved into private practice. He is the owner of the Lincoln Smile Centre.

Niel has dedicated much of his time to advance his skills and knowledge in cosmetic and all other aspects of dentistry. He has been fortunate enough to have gained experience in treating patients in need of “smile make-overs” under the direct tutelage of Dr Larry Rosenthal (the famed “Dentist to the Stars”), who is based at the University of New York, USA.

He also has a particular interest in implant dentistry. He has successfully completed a year course in implant dentistry at the National Implant and Aesthetic Training Centre, Birmingham. After several years of successfully placing and restoring implants in his practice, he is now finishing his studies for the Diploma in Implant Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons (England). His studies take him to Germany on a regular basis, enabling him to stay on the forefront of developments in this field.

He is renowned amongst his staff for his attention to detail, and to take his time to get things done “just right”.

His patients know him as caring and often remarks about his gentleness when carrying out treatment.

Tom has established himself within the practice as a friendly and caring professional who pursues excellent clinical standards. Originally from Cheltenham, Tom graduated from Leeds University and has since worked in a city centre practice in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. In addition to this, he worked at Newcastle Dental Hospital for several years where he gained much experience in oral surgery, complex restorative and endodontic (root canal) techniques. Tom enjoys most aspects of dentistry and has special interests in advanced restorative and cosmetic dentistry (crowns, tooth-coloured fillings, tooth whitening, veneers and bridges). He has gained a reputation as a very approachable dentist, who has a great deal of experience in treating both nervous and phobic patients. To expand his knowledge, develop his skills further and keep up to date with the latest techniques, Tom attends regular training courses and seminars in all aspects of dentistry, including Cerec restorations, cosmetic dentistry and implantology. Further postgraduate training and exams have enabled Tom to attain membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
