Chris qualified in 1987 with a degree from the University of Leeds and began working in Leicester soon after qualification, became the youngest qualified dentist in Leicestershire. He was one of the first in the country to be awarded the Diploma in General Dental Practice by examination from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1994.
Alongside general practice, Chris worked in the department of Oral Surgery at Leicester Royal Infirmary and for fourteen years in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Glenfield Hospital developing restorative skills in the management of advanced cases and in the implant rehabilitation of cancer and trauma patients. He has maintained an enthusiasm for post-graduate training and has undergone restorative and implant training in the UK, Italy, Germany and the USA. He was the first Leicestershire dentist to embark on the highly-regarded and prestigious Diploma in Implant Dentistry programme and was awarded the diploma in 2007 with the advanced certificate in bone-grafting.
As a trainer of some ten years, Chris runs Dental Foundation Training and nurtures the development of new graduates within the practice. He is also actively involved at regional level in Foundation Training and liaises postgraduate training with the University of Sheffield where he teaches weekly. He holds the position of Honorary Clinical Tutor and teaches restorative dentistry at undergraduate level and as a tutor on the postgraduate courses, teaches Implant Dentistry at Certificate, Diploma and Masters level.
Holding two diplomas, he is a member of the Faculty of General Dental Practice of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Academy of Aesthetics Dentistry and the Association of Dental Implantology. He examines on the Masters course in Implantology at Sheffield University, for the Royal College of Surgeons of England for the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) and for the Overseas Registration Examination.
Within the practice, his interests are in graduate training, aesthetic dentistry, surgery and implant dentistry though if you’re after a ‘ten years younger’ you’re in no safer hands for whitening, brightening, dermal fillers and wrinkle reduction!
