Samer Salam qualified as a dentist with the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from University of Manchester Dental Hospital in 1996. He worked as a general dental practitioner for 6 years and was also a partner in a dental practice in Manchester. After this, Samer pursued his passion for straightening misaligned teeth gaining the Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004.
Following various hospital posts he joined the orthodontic specialist registrar training programme in Manchester in 2005. He completed his specialist training in Orthodontics in 2008 gaining the Membership in Orthodontics (M.Orth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He also gained a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) from the University of Manchester in 2008 for which he also won first prize for the national British Orthodontic Society BOTLA award for best research study design and protocol in 2007. Samer has been actively involved in teaching on the Orthodontic Therapy Course at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in 2009 and 2010, as well as being involved in the training of orthodontic therapists. He has also worked as a locum consultant in orthodontics in 2010 and 2011 at Stepping Hospital in Stockport. Samer is the principal and practice owner of Preston Orthodontics.
In his spare time Samer is involved in various voluntary community projects in Manchester. He enjoys playing badminton, computers and electronic gadgets.
