Dental implants are TITANIUM cylinders that are placed in the upper or lower bone, as a 'fixture' to help support a dental prosthesis, which will serve as a substitute for the lost natural teeth. Dr Moreno can build these prostheses according to the patient's desires as well as to aesthetically suit each patient's distinctive facial requirements. The evolution of Dental implants in this century has occurred with different materials. Today's Dental Implants are made of TITANIUM, which is a precious metal, that has proven to be well-accepted in the bone where it is placed. Sophisticated research in Europe, the United States and abroad has recognised titanium for its biological compatibility with the human body. Dental implants are a solution Where there is a loss of one or many teeth, when removable partial dentures are bothersome, when the patient that wears clasps of the partial denture has never accepted the esthetics of the metal smile of front teeth when retention of a lower or an upper partial denture is a problem. The treatment with dental implants in México requires a minimum of 2 stages. 1) The first stage of construction is a surgery procedure, that is performed by Dr. Maite Moreno, or if the case requires, by a Maxillofacial specialist. Nearly all implants are placed in the mouth with local anaesthesia in a dental chair. No pain is felt during the surgical procedure. Depending upon the number of implants placed, there may be swelling and/or tenderness for a few days following the surgery. Pain medication is usually prescribed which alleviates this discomfort and a soft food diet. 2) The second stage is the prosthesis construction, which is made by Dr. M. Moreno. The healing process of the jaw bone and the building of the new teeth may be accomplished in as little as three months, though the upper bone normally requires six months to heal. Dr Moreno has several implant technologies available, but she is one of only 60 certified Dentists in Mexico with the capability of providing NOBEL BIOCARE (Sweden) implants. Dental implant patients range from age nine to 100. A single congenitally missing tooth can dramatically change the life of a youngster; the replacement of implant dentures in an older patient can make the golden years more fulfilling, and considerably gentler for both the digestive tract and the cardiovascular system. Untreatable patients: patients with rare blood diseases, leukaemia, or patients being treated with chemotherapy. However, Dr. Moreno will carefully evaluate this.
