This review only applies to Drs. Jorge Armenta and Paulina Contreras.
Approximately 70% of all dental work is correcting old, failed dental work. Mine last week was 100%: 3 failed molar composite fillings and two 40 year old incisor root canal crowns. I brought in a dental CAT scan obtained the day before at SA Dentis Digital Dental Imaging. The doctors' recommendations were rational and reasonable - there was no pressure or upselling.
Upon Dr. Armenta's recommendation, Dr. Paulina prepped and installed 2 molar crowns without root canals, also a very large molar composite filling. On my insistence, she worked without anaesthetic. Her work was exacting, unrushed, gentle, and thorough.
I also brought in my self-care materials. I consulted with the doctors about methods, recorded progress, and prognosis. Dr. Armenta was genially supportive of my efforts. Dr. Paulina, which whom I scheduled extra time particularly for consultation regarding self-care, very capable and willingly offered advice and demonstration regarding flossing, brushing, self-irrigation of gum pockets, etc.
These two doctors are fluent in English, thoughtful, careful, courteous, and highly skilled. The advice and treatment I received there was the best I have experienced in any dental office, including the US, Canada, and Europe.
The cost savings paid for my 1-week vacation in Playa del Carmen. I hesitated to write this review because I want to return to this office in future - but finally felt that my desire for their continued success has to overcome my own selfish interest.
I am a 68 year old chiropractor and have spent considerable time/effort/money over the past few years in researching and practising dental self-care, resolving periodontitis, remineralizing my own teeth, regenerating my gum pockets and recission with considerable success with Orawellness information and products. I try to be very courteous, but most dental offices find my desires for self reliance more or less offensive, or just silly. In contrast, while Drs. Armenta and Contreras do not promote these efforts, they were supportive and encouraging. Dr. Paulina is cognizant and approving of advances in dental remineralization and enamel permeability that others downplay.
The office staff are courteous and service-oriented, although almost entirely lacking in English language skills.
