Datin Dr Rosnah was conferred a Bachelors Degree in Dental Surgery in 1979 from the University of Malaya and thereafter joined the Faculty of Dentistry. She completed her Masters of Science Degree in the field of Periodontology at the University College London in 1980 and immediately pursued a course leading to a Certificate in Immunology at the Chelsea College, University of London where she was awarded the certificate in 1981. Being the first of two periodontists to have been awarded the Masters of Science degree in the field of Periodontology, she returned to work at the University of Malaya and was responsible in setting up the undergraduate teaching programme in the field of periodontology.
In 1986, once again Dr Rosnah left for London to pursue further postgraduate training in the field of periodontology and was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 1989. She then returned to her teaching career at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya and apart from carrying out undergraduate teaching, dedicated herself towards post graduate teaching and was responsible for developing the postgraduate programme for Masters in Clinical Dentistry on research methodology and Biostatistics. Whilst at the University, Dr Rosnah was an active researcher in the field of periodontal and saliva research and has published and presented her work widely both locally and abroad.
In 2003, having retired from the government service after a career spanning over 24 years, Dr Rosnah mooted the idea of setting up smileshop, a practice with emphasis on the prevention of dental disease. Smileshop, a general and specialist dental clinic is a one stop dental rehabilitation centre located in the heart of Sri Hartamas with a team consisting of 2 general dental practitioners and three specialists in the field of Periodontology, Orthodontics and Restorative dentistry and Endodontics. At Smileshop, Dr Rosnahs practice is limited to Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. In 2003 she attended an Ankylos implant training programme at the University of Frankfurt, Germany on a part-time basis and had several attachments at the University of Haadyai with Professor Kasuma.
