Dr. Nuala Carney, BDentSc, FDSRCSI
Dr Nuala Carney studied dentistry at Trinity College Dublin. She was a warded the Costello Medal for best student presentation at the IDA Conference in 1987. She graduated with honours in 1988. She worked for 2 years in general practice in New Zealand, returning to work for 4 years full time in the Dublin Dental Hospital as house officer, SHO and registrar. She gained her postgraduate Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FFD) from RCSI in 1994.
Dr Carney then spent 2 years working in India on a dental therapist training programme with a UK charity. This had a profound impact on her approach to dentistry and confirmed her belief in the absolute necessity for prevention as a basis for all care.
She returned to Dublin to work part time in practice, and part time as a clinical instructor at the DDH. She joined Dr Patrick Crotty in practice in 1998.
Following her marriage in 2003, Nuala moved to Grenoble, France with her husband. Although life in the mountains was very appealing, she was happy to return to Dublin for professional reasons in 2007.
She is a member of the IDA, and the Irish Endodontic Society, and has a particular interest in both aesthetic dentistry and endodontics. She was appointed as a local dental advisor for Dental Protection in 2010.
Outside work, Nuala has a particular love for classical music, but is probably happiest up in the mountains, hiking, biking - or best of all - on skis!
