Bone Graft

Bone Graft - Dental Artistry
What is a Bone Graft? The bones of your jaw act as the foundation for an implant but without sufficient bone support it is not possible to replace a missing tooth with an implant.

Bone can be lost in a number of ways: gum disease, abscesses, trauma, and tooth extraction can all lead to bone loss.

Dental Crowns

Crowns

A crown is used to fully cover a damaged tooth. A crown not only strengthens but improves the appearance and shape of a damaged tooth. Crowns are also placed on top of implants.

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap”; an artificial restoration that is placed over a damaged tooth to improve the appearance and restore its shape, size and strength. The crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants - Dental Artistry

Dental Implants are the best option to replace failing or missing teeth!

Dental implants are metal posts or frames that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. Once in place, they allow your dentist to mount replacement teeth onto them. Implants can be used to replace an individual tooth or for an implant-supported bridge or denture containing multiple teeth.

Dentist Consultation (30 mins)

Dentist Consultation - Dental Artistry
Routine Examination: Initial consultation, examination, diagnosis and treatment plan!

A healthy mouth is an important part of overall wellness and well-being. During a dental consultation at Dental Artistry your dentist will give you a full oral assessment to establish your oral health. And recommend the best treatments if needed.

Your dentist will examine: old fillings, crowns, veneers and the health of your gum.

If X-Rays are required there would be an additional fee. X-Rays can better assist the dentist to see any changes in your bone, or in the root of teeth. Decay both inside and between the teeth, that is hard to see.  The dentist will be able to see the position of roots and its surroundings.

Solutions for all issues will be proposed to you, and you will receive a personalised treatment plan. This will outline the costs and options that you may have in relation to preventing any further problems that may arise. Our dentist will help you choose the best possible option.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom Tooth Extraction - Dental Artistry
Wisdom Teeth ExtractionHow the wisdom teeth extraction is done?

Before removing a wisdom tooth, your dentist will give you a local anaesthetic to numb the area where the tooth will be removed.

To remove the wisdom tooth, your dentist will open up the gum tissue over the tooth and take out any bone that is covering the tooth. He or she will separate the tissue connecting the tooth to the bone and then remove the tooth. Sometimes the dentist will cut the tooth into smaller pieces to make it easier to remove.

One area of speciality areas within dentistry is known as oral surgery and this applies to procedures of a surgical nature, such as the extraction of teeth or wisdom teeth. Oral surgery requires additional training in techniques to perform procedures with care, helping patients to be able to use their teeth and mouths again.

If you have advanced tooth decay or an impacted wisdom tooth, you may require oral surgery to have them safely extracted. Depending on your particular case and the severity of your problem, you will be given anaesthetic and offered sedation if you are anxious.

IMPORTANT: Do not pull out your own teeth!

It is important to always get the advice of a dental professional if you are worried about any of your teeth. Never attempt to pull out your own tooth out at home as this could cause a more serious problem for you. Dentists have the right equipment and sterile environment in which to perform this type of procedure with the utmost care and your recovery can be fairly quick. In the case of wisdom teeth extractions you may have some swelling after the procedure and discomfort that can be eased with over the counter painkillers.

Fillings

Fillings - Dental Artistry
Fillings

A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape.

How it’s done:

  • Decayed tooth material removed.
  • The area is cleaned and dried.
  • The cavity is filled with a filling material.

All fillings are done with composite filling, this is a tooth coloured filling, they are matched to the same colour as your teeth.

Fillings in regard to teeth positioning:

  • Front: The fillings is placed in teeth number 1, 2 or 3.
  • Pre-molar: The fillings is placed in the 4th or 5th teeth.
  • Molar: In this case the filling is placed into either teeth 6,7 or 8.

Inlay or Onlay

Inlay or Onlay - Dental Artistry

Inlay an Onlay

Inlays and onlays are known as indirect fillings. They are also used to repair the tooth. It is a better alternative to a filling. As a filling can weaken a tooth, whereas inlay or onlay can strengthen the structure of the tooth.

Simply put, inlays and onlays are large fillings, they are used when the teeth has a limited material, due to the removal of large areas because of tooth decay.

In case of inlays and onlays impressions are taken, these are sent to a dental laboratory where a dental technician makes a porcelain insert. Due to the strength of inlays and onlays the teeth becomes more durable, rather than having a large composite filling that could crack by time and is not so durable.

Root Canals

Root Canals - Dental Artistry

Root Canal Treatment

The root canal treatment will repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it.  This treatment is needed when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected. The treatment involves removing the pulp and at the end the cavity is sealed by a filling material. If root canal treatment is not carried out in time, the tooth may need to be extracted.

Root canal treatment (also called Endodontics) is needed when the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected through tooth decay or damaged by an injury to your mouth. This infection may spread through the root canal system, which could eventually lead to an abscess, causing a great deal of discomfort. If root canal treatment is not carried out, the tooth may need to be taken out.

How is it carried out?

Our dentists can perform root canal treatment to stop the infection from spreading and will preserve as much of your tooth as possible. Using specific techniques and advanced equipment, you will receive a local anaesthetic and the treatment overall should feel no different to having an ordinary filling placed. The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from the root canal. The root is then cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection. A temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle.

The tooth is checked at a later visit and when all the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled. Root canal treatment is a skilled and time-consuming procedure and most courses of treatment will involve two or more visits.

To keep your mouth in tip top shape we recommend you come in for regular hygiene appointments and dental check-ups.

The dentist will clean your teeth using professional equipment. The process of removing tartar is called scaling. The main aim for a scale and polish treatment is to leave your teeth clean and smooth.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening - Dental Artistry
Laser Teeth Whitening

Laser Teeth Whitening is the most usual method of tooth whitening. Your dentist will be able to tell you if you are suitable for the treatment.

Using a mouthpiece all of your teeth would be exposed to make it easier for the gel and light to work. After this a whitening gel will be applied to your teeth. Then a light or laser is shone on the teeth to activate the chemical. The light speeds up the reaction of the whitening product and the colour change can be achieved more quickly.
