Dentist Biography:
A native of Bridgewater NS, Dr. Dakin graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1986. He continued his post secondary education at Dalhousie University, completing an Advanced Major in Biology in 1990, a Masters Degree in Human Anatomy & Neurobiology in 1993, and finally his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1997. In addition to the mandatory dental training, Dr. Dakin also received certification for Laughing Gas Sedation and Implant Dentistry. An active member of the Nova Scotia Dental Association and Canadian Dental Association, Dr. Dakin also volunteers on several committees and participates in regional Dental Society meetings, Dental Study Clubs, and continually takes advanced dental education courses. In addition to private practice, Dr. Dakin is also the Chief of Dental Staff at the South Shore Regional Hospital where he utilizes Operating Room privileges to treat children and mentally challenged patients. In addition to having an active family life with his wife, Deborah, and their children, Jared and Olivia, he also enjoys playing (and watching!) soccer and hockey in addition to coaching soccer in his spare time. Other hobbies include: woodworking, wine making, playing guitar, photography, computers, and collecting and listening to many different styles of music.
