He is one of the first generation of Doctors of Dental Suregery, training in Phnom Penh after the Khmer Rouge.He graduated in 1994 and was appointed to work at the dentalschool since then. In 1996, he got the scholarship from New Zealand Overseas Development Assistance to further his studies in Oral Surgery at Otago University, New Zealand. Following completion of his studies in 1999, he was appointed as the Deputy Head of Oral Surgery Department, senior lecturer, and clinical tutor at the public dental school in Phnom Penh. He was also started in private practice in general dentistry and oral surgery since then. He was the founder of the Cambodian Students’ Dental Association in 1994 and Cambodian Dental Association in 1995 and was elected as the President of the Cambodian Dental Association in 2000 and was re-elected in 2001 served as the president till 2003. He has been traveling to most countries in Asia-Pacific regions to represent Cambodian dentists as well as to improve his knowledge and skills in Oral Surgery and General Dentistry. He has been presenting many papers related to Dentistry in Cambodia and Oral Surgery in local and international meetings/seminars/congresses such as in Australia, Thailand, China, Vietnam, and Malaysia. He has further trained in dental implants in 2004 in Cambodia and short-term hands-on course in dental implants and Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery from 2005 to 2010 in Australia. Currently, he is holding the positions as the Head Department of Oral Surgery, Chairman of Oral Surgery Disciplines, Deputy Head of Research and Planning Office, Professor, and Clinical Supervisor in Oral Surgery at the Faculty of Odonoto-Stomatology, University of Health Sciences in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He is also the President of Academy Dentistry International, Cambodia Chapter; Treasurer of the Dental Council of Cambodia; and President of the Cambodian Society for Conscious Sedation. He has just been promoted as a full professor by His Royal Highness, Norodom Sihamony on 28th May 2011 and officially announced by the Minister of Health on 15th September 2011. Additionally, he is a part-time private practitioner at his own Standard Dental Surgery in Phnom Penh.
