Following a positive high school work experience placement at a local dental studio in his home state of Queensland, Joel was inspired to enroll in the School of Dentistry and Oral Health (Griffith University) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health and Dental Science (BOralH) in 2010. Subsequently, Joel joined the d-spa family in 2011 where his outgoing and warm demeanour have made him a welcome addition to the team.

Joel’s dental philosophy is strongly centered on preventive oriented patient care. He believes that using this as a core approach allows him to develop effective treatment planning for each and every individual patient regardless of their dental circumstances, which ultimately builds upon a solid foundation of preventing the cause of dental decay and gum disease. Joel also takes great pride in providing the utmost professionalism and high quality patient care and strives to eliminate patient anxiety in order to ensure that his patients have a pleasant and enjoyable dental experience: “I always try to ease discomfort through building a rapport with my patients, striking up friendly conversation in order to get to know each and every individual on a personal level. Gaining a patient’s trust is something I place high priority on and is the key to a successful patient relationship”. As a d-spa Oral Health Therapist, Joel is also qualified in working with and is proud to be able to create a fun dental experience for first time child patients. 

fter graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2005 with a Bachelor of Dental surgery (B.D.S), Dr. Matthew Burke joined the d-spa family in 2008. During his six years, Dr. Burke has been an integral component of d-spa’s success, in particular through his management of the dentist team across all three d-spa practices. He is also a member ADA City Group and Australian Society of Endodontology.

Having always harboured an interest in the health sector, Dr. Burke was drawn to the dental industry as it allowed him to positively help people. Underpinning Dr. Burke’s dental philosophy is his commitment to providing minimally invasive and pain-free dentistry and he is dedicated to comprehensive treatment planning to ensure his patients experience the best of both the functional and aesthetic aspects of dentistry. With experience across all facets of general practice, Dr. Burke has a specific interest in endodontics and also aesthetic orthodontics such as  treatment. However, he admits that the most rewarding aspect of his role is “building long term patient relationships and being able to offer comprehensive treatment tailored to each individual’s needs.”  Unsurprisingly, Dr. Burke’s warm and effervescent nature have made him a popular member of the d-spa team and endeared him to a very loyal patient base. 

Dr. Kae Bajwa graduated with the highest distinction from the University of Otago in New Zealand. Excelling academically, she was the recipient of numerous academic awards including the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Most Outstanding Student. Her caring nature and aptitude for the health sciences made the decision to pursue a career in the dental health profession a natural choice.

Dr. Bajwa is committed to ensuring all of her patients enjoy a pleasant dental experience in a relaxing, positive environment. She enjoys getting to know her patients on a personal level and nothing makes her happier than seeing them leaving the practice relaxed, confident and smiling. Her dental philosophy is centered on prevention over cure. As a result, she works intimately with her patients to develop effective prevention and treatment strategies individually tailored and delivered at each patient’s desired pace. Dr. Bajwa strongly believes that communication and patient education are essential elements of her role as a health professional. With her gentle and emphatic nature, she strives to provide her patients with the necessary educational information to help them maintain optimal dental health for life.
