Born in Brussels, Dr B. Elias was admitted at the Catholic University of Louvain, where he continued his studies and completed a Doctorate in Medicine with the highest distinction.
Following a competitive academic specialty, he was ranked first and received a training position for a period of six years to specialize in Plastic Surgery. He completed his training at Saint-Luc University Hospitals in Brussels and at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG). He earned his Specialist degree in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Belgium and its FMH equivalence in Switzerland.
At the request of Professor Brigitte Pittet, head of department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the HUG, he joined her team in September 2004 as first senior physician. He has carried his collaboration continuously since January 2008 as Associate Doctor.
He took over the office of Professor Denys Montandon, one of the first worldwide well know swiss plastic surgeon and was asked to open another office at Clinique de Genolier, member of GSMN (Genolier Swiss Medical Network).
Dr. Elias takes part in Pregraduate education of medical students and postgraduate training of assistants in Plastic Surgery. He teaches aesthetic facial plastic surgery including facelift, rhinoplasty, cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery.
In Reconstructive Surgery, the HUG is one of the few academic centers in Switzerland to practice microsurgical breast reconstruction without implants from the skin and fat of the abdomen. Dr. Elias teaches this meticulous technique as well as lipostructure of breasts.
Dr. Elias is consultant at the Lipodystrophy Group at Geneva University Hospitals. Together with Infectuous Disease specialists, Dermatologists, Endocrinologist and Psychiatrics, He treats patients whose faces and bodies have changed after years of Hiv therapy.
He completed several months of additional training in Cosmetic Surgery in North American hospitals including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Miami.
He has presented numerous scientific papers at conferences including Belgian, French and Swiss Societies of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Finally, he published many articles in international scientific journals, including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, Obesity Surgery and the Bulletin of cancer.
Dr. Elias is a member of several local and international societies : FMH (Swiss Medical Association), Swiss and Belgian Societies of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic, AMG (Medical Association of Geneva), ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgery), IPRAS (International Confederation of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery) and ISAPS (International Society of Surgery Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery).
