Mr Stephen Gilbert is the Medical Director of Prescription Skin Care. Mr Gilbert specialises in cosmetic plastic surgery with a particular interest in facial rejuvenation, which includes the latest reduced scar, SMAS and volume-enhancing facelift techniques. He believes that the best results are only achieved when the skin has been refreshed. Prescription Skin Care provides this extra dimension. Mr Gilbert is a Clinical Director of The New Zealand Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery.He graduated from the Otago Medical School, did his house surgeon years with the Auckland Hospital Board, was an inaugural Anatomy Demonstrator at the Auckland Medical School and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in General Surgery in London. He then returned to New Zealand to train in Plastic Surgery with Sir William Manchester. He completed his Plastic Surgical training in the UK and USA. He was for many years a part-time consultant in the Plastic Surgical Unit at Middlemore Hospital, while running a busy private cosmetic surgical practice. He remains an Honorary Consultant at Middlemore Hospital. He has visited and exchanged ideas with many of the world's most innovative aesthetic plastic surgeons and presented his results internationally. He is involved in training young New Zealand plastic surgeons in cosmetic plastic surgery. He is an active member of the Australasian Society of Plastic Surgery, the New Zealand Association of Plastic Surgeons, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the International Consortium of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and Past President of the New Zealand Foundation of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, and the New Zealand Society for Surgery of the Hand, and is a corresponding member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
