Dr. Ananda completed his undergraduate medical training at Madras Medical College, India in 1995. He started his career in general surgery and subsequently developed a keen interest in Plastic Surgery. He pursued his Master’s degree in Plastic Surgery from University Saints Malaysia and graduated in 2005. He provided his service to the university hospital (USM) and treated a variety of plastic and reconstructive surgery cases. His interest in burns and tissue engineering instigated him to conduct various research projects in the field of tissue engineering for treating burn injuries. He was instrumental in establishing the cultured epidermal autograft for major burn injury victims. He has presented his research findings at various international conferences. He has also won several awards and is well-recognised for his contribution to burn research and tissue engineering.
He developed a passion and keen interest in lasers for treating various cosmetic problems with a special interest in facial resurfacing for acne scars. In 2009, he successfully completed a one-year fellowship in Burns, Laser and Aesthetic surgery from the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (Taiwan). He is one of the very few plastic surgeons in Malaysia to have completed a one-year fellowship program in Burns, Laser and Aesthetic Surgery. Having served in the university hospital, he has vast experience in treating cleft lip and palate children and takes interest in bringing a smile to their faces. He has successfully treated several major burn injuries and has good interdisciplinary relations with his peers. He has performed several reconstructive surgeries for breast cancer patients and has a strong belief that breast reconstruction should be given high priority to those undergoing mastectomy. He has been trained in reconstructive microsurgery and has performed several long enduring hours of microsurgery for traumatic and oncological defects. He has a passion for treating chronic wounds and has successfully treated several long-standing leg ulcers with modern wound dressings and advanced wound care devices. He has a keen interest in hair transplantation and has been trained to perform FUT and FUE. His expertise also includes liposuction, fat transfer, body contouring (abdominoplasty, arm lift, thigh lift), facial cosmetic surgery (facelift, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty), breast augmentation and reduction.
