He was born in 1959 in Tabor. He graduated in 1984 at the 1st Faculty of Medicine, attestation of gastroenterology passed in 1993. Since then, he worked at the General Teaching Hospital at the Clinic of Internal Medicine. His specialty is inflammatory bowel disease. Since 2007, the head of the clinic ISCARE a Senior Consultant and Clinical Research Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease ISCARE. He has published more than 250 lectures both in domestic and foreign journals. Chairman of the Czech Society of Gastroenterology and chief editor of the journal Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He is a member of international organizations, the American Gastroenterological Association, European Crohn's and Colitis Association and the International Organization for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
