Alastair Lewis was appointed as a Consultant General and Vascular Surgeon in 2007, and subsequently became an Honorary Lecturer in Surgery at Queens University, Belfast and member of the Court of Examiners at the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. For the last two years he has concentrated exclusively on treating varicose veins and is Northern Irelands only full time phlebologist Mr Lewis now continues to work part-time with the NHS delivering over 300 keyhole procedures and 400 outpatient assessments per year. Privately, he has performed over 300 cosmetic and therapeutic interventions in both the North and South of Ireland for the last 5 years. He is Fellow of the College of Phlebology, a member of the British Association of Sclerotherapists and has been regularly in demand as an expert speaker at international veins meetings since 2009. He has built a large experience of laser and radiofrequency ablation, non-surgical management for complex or recurrent veins, foam sclerotherapy of varicose veins and microsclerotherapy for thread and reticular veins on the legs, face and other body areas.
